Agreed. Storyline (what storyline? :P) and gameplay progression in this pack makes absolutly no sense at all.

UBerserker wrote:The visuals are incredibly repetitive.

Can't agree with this one, I think that visuals are brilliant in most of the pack (parts of caves and mausoleum as an exception).

UBerserker wrote:Lava inside water.

That's not THAT stupid, underwater erruptions are possible. Also, it looks cool :)
UBerserker wrote:The only good thing is the use of music.

Aye, the music is teh win! I really like use of both new and old tracks.

UBerserker wrote:(...) with a ugly-looking star ship at the end.

I disagree, I think it looks just as it was supposed to look - like a space shuttle. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

UBerserker wrote:Gameplay sucks due to invulnerable hitscan turrets(...)

Hitscan turrets can be easilly avoided by choosing the right path and taking cover behind crates. Nothing wrong in introducing some tactical gameplay!

Mman wrote:However, this level has a bug where the exit randomly doesn't work, like in Xidia Gold's Landing level.

Aye, real nightmare, I reloaded the game 10 times before I finally found the right spot to stand on.

redeye wrote:On the first map for Unreality it's a tactical nightmare, for instance the houses the door is dark, so once you awake those things they hammer you and you can't see the door to run away lol.

I quite don't understand your point here. Ambushes in houses in the first map were nightmare for me. Period.
It wasn't funny to open the door and see nice little barrel of Flak Cannon touching your face.
This pack COULD have been more balanced. Also, the choice of enemies could have made more sense. Excluding Mr. Nutz would be a good start, I somehow found rest of the enemies quite fitting.

Well, anyway, I'm still not going to replay this pack.

Brilliant yes. But not much variety. There are three outdoor maps that look almost the same.
The asteroid at the end was cool though.

And you have to take in the account some groups of Marines with hitscan marine rifles that kill you in no time.

Best introduction ever for a sad gameplay.

After I read about your likeness for this kind of frustrating gameplay, I wonder what's your top 3 about SP mappacks :o

Thats why the large crates are there, to get around the turrets.

Rather than saying the top 3 all I can say is what I don't like.
The Towers of Sherekith?, and or levels that specialise in looks bogging the system down but when all siad and done the whole gameplay is just getting through.

That toweers map all those doors and vague hints etc etc, along with maps that go though all this exstensive BSP for a cool looking spot, no weapons, no secrets nothing.I think the reason for that along with doors that don't open is like the same attitude toward England as in "dry humor", I want ACTION not a goldfish bowl with nothing to do.
The same for exstensive work all to peer through a gate for background but you can't go there, all in the name of graphics and so called theme.Waste of BSP space.

On this map it would have been even better if they put snipers on those small rock cliffs sticking out everywhere.Along with what is allready there.
But when I play a game or a new game (FPS) I search out every nook and craney, shhot every critter even clean up the gibbs all crates and so on.

My breaking point for search and find type of thing is Myst, drives me crazy with all those unknown names and phrases. That is why I do not like the Lord of the rings or starwars either. You have to learn all the names and places before you can even get entertained, jobba the hut, WHO WHAT, on planet qwzutytywerbbbdfgy who were his 10th cousin on the gray side, or was that the purple side, nooooo the darside, hehe.

Basicaly if people think this is hard or frustrating, it is even more frustrating to play maps that are so hinty with odd alien names.like

"go see tribline_R on planet zecula, go collect the tyup gun then exit the secret door after talking to druftywep."
Just like the towers of WHO? shitkareth?, hell I can't even spell it without pasting.who or waht is shitkareth a king ?an alien? I don't care to know.
talk about rediculas boring all becaue of the allmighty so called "storyline" that is just not an FPS to me.

But even if you literally want pure action and the merest hint of story makes you give up, it still doesn't make sense as Unreality's action sucks.

map file sizes
build times
extra files
effects that don't add much to the overall looks or gameplay

I see a whole pile of work all just to look through a gate, doors that don't open all that brushwork for a door that is just BSP.
Or an area that looks like it has some secret or item such as a crate way off in some corner, cool lighting, floor has sound effect puddles, intricate brushwork dynamic lights, and nothing is there.

It does slow things down as a matter of fact while the level could do nicely without all the extra extra extra fluff.
If thats the case why not maps 100 meg, c'mon build one and let me know how hysterical it is.

I don't give up, but if I wanted a class how to read latin or alien names has no bearing on making a map fun.Like overly creative but adds nothing, it sucks because it seems you guys are affraid to play or somthing

That's your opinion. Anyway, you completely missed the point of the Single Player system of Unreal.

Is this getting out of hand as well already?!.. what's the matter with everyone?

I need to see the vid to refresh my memory.. but I won't compare this with anything else, just with average build/gameplay that I'm 'used' to.

Can't remember playing it, but the vid shows a pretty decent level!
I know that a spaceshuttle can't take off like that, but oh well..
The last fight was challenging, but MMAN did it pretty good. Other than that.. decent archi and everything.. not bad at all! Should try it out again I think (and take the level in the caves out)... or play each one of them separately.. :P

The last fight is done by using one of those Marine Sniper Rifles and killing every Cyborg you see inside, with headshots. Although you have to be really fast, otherwise if many of them comes out, you'll have to retreat.

I lured them underwater.

This isn't an argument, it's a heated discussion.

The final battle in the video perfectly captures everything so ridiculous about this pack.
