Very recommendable read. I have never been this motivated to work hard towards my goals of entering the game industry. Getting a job at Valve seems to be THE single best thing that can possibly happen to a game artist.
Gee, I sure hope I won't be stuck working overtime to make no-name shovelware games for the rest of my life...

They must be getting so much money from Steam. It's like they can't fail financially no matter what they do now. No wonder they're sinking in self complacency writing such handbooks.

I reckon the structure they've got is great, but only works for a company which depends on its employees creativity not being stiffled. At my workplace this sort of thing would be detrimental and chaotic.

So with that said I'm still pissed I'm not in the games industry :P
