Clearly you haven't heard of kkreiger http://www.theprodukkt.com/kkrieger ;)

Just kidding of course; no one was making super-optimized games back then.

The main thing scepticism comes from for me is the character's name. I mean:

"Maylia Simonyéz Fitzgerald"

Seriously?

I guess it could be a slowly rotating wireframe render of the "Bigman"! That might be about 80kB...

Hellscrag is correct on this one, infact 5¼ floppies were long obsolete when everyone realized c64 cassettes were the future.
nothing beats my UT3 beta, i have it on casette, it looks better then the final game, 2-bit parallax mapping FTW!
Oh and in the beta Demoguy is Markus Fenix and Cliffyb's child!!!

Maybe i meant 80k not 80kb? I forget...I'll have to ask him again :P

EDIT: Ok it's not an alhpa, it's a prototype. The very first prototype of Unreal1. It contains 1 test level and 2 textures. Also here is a screenie of it apparently.

And it's not an actual pawn...that dragon. It's like an animated gif texture or something apparently.

He just looked at the floppy which has written on it all the info about it. It was compiled on March 29st 1994 and it's 480kb

80k what? You either mean kilobytes (which I assumed before) or kilobits (which is even worse). Neither is enough to contain anything dramatic.

Just wait for the Firestorm dragons, I say. :o

But still...this would be very interesting to see. Not to play, of course. But to see. Hope it works out.

(granted if it's even legal, that is...)

Don't hope it to see soon. There are legal matters to be solved first and therefore.

This is never going to happen now.
Ever.

He lost them in a flood (Some got too badly damaged) and it seems like we will never see them.

If he ever was speaking truth though. I first believed him, but later on, I dunno, he made up a lot of stuff that is clear(because something conflicted with the stuff he was saying) and he failed to provide me with some real answers when asked about it. So I am very sceptical about it.

Btw why did you resurrect such an ancient topic? :)

Lol idk, just looking through beta stuff again. Your scored castle map got me reminiscing about the alphas and betas again. I might have another sweep through archived websites see what turns up. (Last time I found a small clip of an early version of DigSh)
