Simple question. Google isn't giving me any clear cut answers.
I'm keen to pick them up from a bargain bin and give them a go but I refuse if they require steam or a DRM rootkit. So yeah, thought I'd ask you guys. Someone here's gotta know
Do dead space and mirrors edge on the pc have drm?

They require Origin or/and Steam, so yes.

Dead Space 1 and 2 require Steam at least.

What's wrong with Steam?
- Mirror's Edge uses SecuROM. Buy it on Steam and you don't have to deal with SecurBS.
- Dead Space 1 uses SecuROM, but it allows for unlimited installs. Buy it on Steam and you don't have to deal with SecurBS.
- Dead Space 2 uses SecuROM (I think). Buy it on Steam and you don't have to deal with SecurBS.
- Dead Space 3 requires an Origin account. Buy it on Steam and...oh wait.

All these have DRM. Like Gizzy said, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space 1 use SecuROM but DS2 uses SecuROM + EA custom and DS3 - just Origin. This can be resolved by... unofficial means (you know what I mean), but in Mirror's Edge case - that DRM was never removed properly and on certain configs the "fixed" game just CTDs. No issues to report in case of Dead Space series.

you don't have to install STEAM. you just need a copy of the installed game from someone that installed it. just copy all the game folders!.
