You never played Doom, Blood, or Descent, did you?
Also, reinstall your sound card (physically, too) and/or update drivers as suggested.

Sorry, my bad. Crono does it too sometimes and I was happy to return the favor this time.

Do a rightmouse click on the drive and click on Properties.
Second tab is "Autoplay".. select the desired program here (for whatever type of files of course). This might have been changed and saved somehow... worth a try!

The drive doesn't show up in My Computer. I used to, but then i got the latest service pack and now it doesn't. and the player itself is fine....a thing comesup that gives me two options, 'open with windows mediaplayer' and 'take no action'...

You've found the issue now, but what media player were you using? That might have been part of it.
Midi quality varies a lot, some sound like ass (generally more "complex" songs converted), while others are very good (Doom and others like it are obviously in this category ).

Yeah true... it's usually the converted songs that I was referring to...
But still .. with the technology nowadays, you don't really need midi anymore, right?... right??
