Introduction and Hellos from me

Hey guys, I just registered here and figured I'd make a thread and say hello since there wasn't any dedicated intro thread like other forums, so hi everyone. I found out about this site only recently actually, and I can't believe it as Unreal is one of my favorite games ever - I'm also registered at OldUnreal and Unreal Old Friends under the same name. Also to say thank you to whoever writes map reviews, after discovering this site I have already tried out several map packs I hadn't ever seen before from the reviews page.
A little bit about myself -
I grew up playing games like Unreal, Quake 1, UT, Hexen and Heretic, Diablo 1, and Doom on the PC, MGS and FF7, Crash bandicoot, and some fighting game I really liked named "ehrgeiz" or something like that on consoles - was never really much of a console gamer otherwise tbh.
As a kid, I played a lot more Quake 1 then Unreal for 2 reasons - 1. Quake was a lot easier at the time for me, and 2. Unreal scared me shitless - I could barely get passed the first level and when I did I was so relieved, but then went into the mines and once I shut the power I basically couldn't continue. I did watch my bro play it sometimes though, and I played Unreal Tournament all the time.
Something funny I found when I played through Coop with a friend (I LOVE that it fully supports coop, I'm a sucker for coop games) is that he was too scared when he was a kid to play as well because he thought the dying people on Vortex Rikers were screaming "MICHAEL!!!" which is his name xD.
After I got old enough to not be scared of that stuff, I finally installed the original Unreal and gave it a whirl (before coop). I still didn't beat it, but I got pretty far and it just blew my mind. The story, music, atmosphere, all of it. Honestly, it really was a great, absorbing experience and I don't think I'll ever find another game that will come close to me - even if there are "better" games out there.
Anyway, I enjoy using editors and making stuff in general, have some experience with blender - made a DP, Automag, and a Tentacle, and some Duke Nukem 3D weapon models a while back - not much but I'm still learning. What I love though is level editing. Just the idea of creating my own scenarios and scripted sequences in a game excites me. I've made levels for a lot of Quake-engine games - never released anything, except I have an ongoing Quake 1 level I'm working on which is turning out pretty good so far and I plan to release - and I also know how to map for Crysis/Crysis 2(or CE3) and am currently working on remaking Nyleve in Crysis 2 - here's that project thread where I post updates from time to time (This will probably eventually go in my portfolio of level design once I get far enough with it):

Here's a quick overview of the sky just for fun: http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/1958 ... 365045.jpg
I would love to be able to map for Unreal 1 (/UT oldskool or whatever it is) though - I've tried several UEd video tutorials and such but I've never been able to make more than skyboxes, and rooms with a sliding door and water. I have no idea why, I just haven't been able to wrap my head around it even though I want to know it as extensively as I know the Quake engine or Cryengine. Any comprehensive beginner tutorials anyone can post would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and it's nice to meet you all - sorry for the long intro.
