Subject: MonsterSpawn ver 3.03 mod released

Post Posted: 05 Jul 2008, 01:49

MonsterSpawn is a Mutator designed to add just about any type of Monster to just about any type of Unreal 1 or Unreal Tournament type game.

Features include adding Modded Monsters or Standard Unreal Monsters. Monsters can be set to respawn after the amount of time you choose, starting a new wave of monster attacks. Up to 60 monsters at a time of your choice can be added to any map of a possible 1200 random choices from 20 different monster lists. Monsters always Spawn in random places. You make your own lists or comes with lists pre-configured. Monsterspawn can in theory add up to 1200 different monsters to the game.

Add monsters to CTF, Assault, DM type games, Co-op etc. Try holding onto that flag with a bunch of Skaarj chasing you down, or adding new or Extra monsters to co-op style game etc.

AWESOME! This is just what I need! BTW, I use customized monster lists~ is it going to be replaced with the default if I install this new version?

Yep, altho you could manually edit all your old monsterspawn.ini file and replace anything that says monsterspawn302 with monsterspawn303
and add damageScale=1.000000 to the bottom of it.

Back it up first tho...

OH, BTW, is it possible to have monsters from a previous wave to remain on the map instead of getting replaced by the new wave?

Awesome, thanks a bunch for continued work on this mod. UT wouldn't be anywhere near as fun for me without this.

When you mention fixes to scripted pawns, does that mean there have been changes to the code you used to make monsters attack bots and/or Queens? If so, if there anything I need to update for EXU's guys?

Well you can set AllowRespawns=False and that will only spawn one wave per map.. If thats what you mean

YW.. Monsterspawn replaces Unreals monsters with its own (by default) as it was really the only way I could fix all the bugs. This ver has all the features of the previous vers.. Monsters attacking bots etc...

Well, I was kind of thinking that the game will keep having new monsters generated without "warping out" the previous ones. :D

Umm nope otherwise it would be possible to fill up a server in no time with so many monsters that it would be unplayable, with so much lag that it would eventually crash..

It has been always like this. The monsters of the mod are just subclasses of the original ones.

Oh and, Asgard is still modding! D:

As former release, you mean UT itself? I was only talking about the mod.

Were you using Unreal monsters and not Monsterspawn monsters? If that was the case, that's why the monsters never attacked you. You should use the MS versions instead; they will attack bots.
