server browsers lists.

Note: ATM there are 459 maps on the olskool server and 467 maps
on the AKcoop server.

Everything from the 13Mutants to GTD-Carthage's ZP maps.

AFcore has been doing some amazing stuff with the ECoop since I turned
him loose on the servers.

I believe he has some of the maps from the mapping contest working
on there also. He has added so much I haven't had time to play them
all yet.... :shock:

I have also done some minor in comparison changes on the MooCow
servers. Players are no longer forced to use the cow model, and I
made some adjustments to the bot skill settings. (They were getting
too mean....)
Also got tired of the same 32 brown and green cows, so added the XBots
mod there and now have a much larger pool of bots that get randomly
picked for each game. Added a few nalibots and a skaarj, XAN or Boss
bot or 2 also.

The cowbots, and Nali in DM, all have new skins on, but no extra
downloads other than the XBots mod. Did some playing with the
servers ini files.

Any bug reports, or problems with server refusing to send files or
mismatches etc. Post them here:
http://ecoop.ucoz.com/

Or you can email me at the server admin email in the servers info.

Have fun ! 8)

Whoops. I keep forgetting to mention that. Here is afCore's comment on that with the solution:

Note:

This mod uses the RMusicPlayer tool, which is a custom mod allowing mp3 tracks to be used in game.

Unfortunately, unlike some security mods which also use & depend on custom native code (libraries), this mod (as of yet) does not support sending its required dll to connecting players in a network game.

Since most players on the coop servers don't have this installed, and MP3 files can't be redirected, I chose to write fake clone of the RMusicPlayer file, which does nothing but allowing players to receive the file & join the server on EXU2 maps, at the cost of the mp3 music usage in the maps.

Players who do have it installed, will have to temporary rename or move the RMusicPlayer.u file to avoid a version mismatch upon connecting.

Wait, I thought the only reason you had to edit RMusicPlayer was because you hosted a Linux server?

Honestly, I really don't like this solution. Breaking music playback online, even for EXU, is kinda shitty. I'd rather have players just, you know, download the mod manually from its source instead of a redirect and install it for full functionality, or just host the game from a Windows server (which as far as I'm aware doesn't have this problem) :/ Forcing people to remove or rename the file for netplay compatibility is also really, really really unideal.

The best solution, of course, would be if Raven updated RMusicPlayer so it would transfer the .dll so people can get music to work and made a version for Linux servers or something. I don't know how hard any of this is to do, though, so it's not my call.

This is why I make it absolutely clear that I don't support coop :P

you can't download DLLs or MP3s either way. theres a reason why dll-dependant "security" mods such as UTPure relocate you to their websites so you manually download the files. that would be the only workaround I can think of - some popup going "woops! you appear not to have EXU installed. while you can download the maps and other content off this server, why don't you go to http://blahblah to download the music files? bye!"

I'm actually thinking very seriously about adding a huge, screen-filling (yet short) message that appears when you join an EXU2 server, something which tells you to download the mod normally before you try to play it online and that I am not responsible for any quirks resulting from unconventional server setups :p

Really? How'd you do it? :O

[Edit] Ah I see, yeah, a misunderstanding. Cleared up in the chat.

For the record: I definitely think Mr. Loathsome's coop server is an awesome thing to have around and I'm really glad it exists. I just get pissed off at the engine for not playing nice for everyone, including coop players. While I say I can't support this or that, it's only because some stuff is just out of my/everyone else's hands because of the engine itself and it gets frustrating. It's not because I dislike coop, coop players, or servers or anything else! It just bothers me that the mod won't work perfectly offline AND online, but that's life. In a perfect world, Unreal would support mp3 music natively :P I only officially support offline play because that's all I have complete control over. Everything else depends on too many variables.

Anyway, just in case anyone thought I was being negative about this server, I wasn't; I'm just annoyed that this is affecting you guys in the first place. Annoyed at the Unreal Engine, that is, not anyone who's worked hard to make tools, mods, or host servers for it!

The EXU2-Demo4 server is now running the RandomFlare mutator.

This mutator causes 1 or more EXU Flares to be dropped upon players death. *currently 2 flares
Mutator runs server side only and is basically irrelevant in SP mode, and ridiculous in botmatches.

The code is so beautiful, I will post it here, with 1 small edit to save space.

Code: Select all

class RFlare expands Mutator config(RandFlare);

var bool bInit;
var() config int NumFlares;

function PostBeginPlay()
{
   if (bInit) return; else bInit = True;
   Level.Game.RegisterDamageMutator( Self );
   Super.PostBeginPlay();
}

function MutatorTakeDamage(out int ActualDamage, Pawn Victim, Pawn InstigatedBy, out Vector HitLocation, out Vector Momentum, name DamageType)
{
   local int rv, i;
   local class<EXUCombatFlare> RF;
   local flare ff;

   if ((Victim != None) && (ScriptedPawn(Victim) == None) && ((Victim.Health - ActualDamage) <= 0))
   {
      for (i=0; i<NumFlares; i++)
      {
         rv = (FRand()*31);
         Switch(rv)
         {
            case 30:
               RF = class'EXU.BioFlare';
               break;
            case 29:
               RF = class'EXU.BiohazardFlare';
               break;
//   .
//   .
//   Edit - EXU has a lot of flares....
//   .
//   .
            case 1:
               RF = class'EXU.SuperFlare';
               break;
            case 0:
               RF = class'EXU.UltraDemonFlare';
               break;
         }
         ff = Spawn(RF,,,Victim.Location+Victim.CollisionRadius*VRand());
         ff.RespawnTime = 0.0;
         ff.BecomePickup();
         ff.RemoteRole = ROLE_DumbProxy;
         ff.SetPhysics(PHYS_Falling);
         ff.bCollideWorld = true;
         ff.GotoState('PickUp', 'Dropped');
      }
   }
   Super.MutatorTakeDamage(ActualDamage, Victim, InstigatedBy, HitLocation, Momentum, DamageType);
}

defaultproperties
{
   NumFlares=1
}

Whenever I try to connect to the AKCoop server it never connects. Probably because I don't have AKCoop, anyone know where I can get the latest version/the one used on this server?
