Well, everyone who was supposedly looking forward to this release has gone very quiet!

It doesn't matter. I was making the map for myself, really, and I hope others have also had some enjoyment from it. It's had 20 downloads, which isn't bad.

I'm 1 of those 20 :D
Really liked Dreamland, but the bots humiliated me and my bots (target score 150, 4 teams, 16 players, my (red) team: 70, the rest had 120-150 at the end lol)
Didn't find any bugs yet, but once I do, I'll tell ya right away ;)

EDIT: 20 downloads do to gamefront's new stupid policy :(

I got it downloaded, but have been vacationing for the weekend in the wake of finally releasing EXU2 Open Beta and have been busy up until then. I should finally have some time to play MP games again after this weekend!

With a map as large as DreamLand that is connected in a complex and confusing way by WarpZones, you can probably expect to lose your first match, particularly with a low score limit like 150. :)

Personally I tend to play these two DOM maps with a time limit rather than a score limit - usually 20 or 30 mins.

Pardon the bump...
But Gamefront lost the pack again (that's what you get when half the world can't download it), could you reupload it somewhere like mapraider?

EDIT: Nevermind, medor got it, though he split the maps up :D :

I finally got around to trying these out tonight, by putting them directly onto my AS/DOM Teambot server.

Amazing maps. Very nice work. Only played a couple test games online so far, but it looks like they would be
great if 2-4 players get on there.
(The Teambot server puts human players on 1 team, and bots on the other. 2 bots for each player....)

ATM, only DOM-Dreamland is on the server however.

Unfortunately, I ran into 1 issue with the smallest file that was included. Blank.umx

UCC Compress seems to create an invalid/bad file with this, and the client will crash when attempting to
download it.

DOM-Dreamland does not seem to require the file, but DOM-TempoClasm does. (It did run fine online in testing when I had the Blank.umx file installed locally however.)

This is the relevant section of the log file that the client gets after crashing while attempting to download Blank.umx.uz:

As you can see, shortly after the irrelevant warnings regarding the missing screenshot, it crashes on the end of
file after connecting to the redirect host.

Nothing seemed amiss when I was compressing all the files and getting them on the server and redirect, but then
after the error showed itself, I looked closer at the logs when I made the 2nd attempt to compress Blank.umx.

Noticed this little bit:

Code: Select all

Log: Compressed Blank.umx -> Blank.umx.uz (114%)

Now that is a neat trick.

However, the original Blank.umx file is only 481 bytes, and the Blank.umx.uz file that gets created is 553 bytes.
For some reason the file fails to compress correctly, but UCC also fails to notice....

Here is the entire UCC.log file generated when compressing the Blank.umx file included with these maps:

Note, the 1st error I got regarding Blank.umx, was a mismatch with a different file I had in my install.
It is 2,238 bytes in size, but does seem to compress correctly. I have no idea what map it came with, and will
have to find out the hard way next time I play whatever map it was.

It might be possible for you to just rebuild with this other version of Blank.umx that I have. PM me if you want
me to email it you. If you elect to recreate a new version of your own Blank.umx, I would recommend renaming
it to BlankTempo.umx or something just to avoid that mismatch.

Bit late in replying to this, but thanks for the feedback. In truth it shouldn't matter which version of Blank.umx you use, the map should cope with any version. Am concerned if DreamLand doesn't seem to require it, though - if I forgot to set that up, then there is a risk of the menu music taking over (on my install, Oldskool will have been suppressing it).

No plans to re-release the maps at the present time. I could re-upload them to GameFront, though, if anyone would like me to.

Can you upload them somewhere else as well? :\
Gamefront won't let me download it.

The Gamefront link is down at the moment. I'm really not keen to start an account anywhere else; perhaps if I re-upload you'll be able to access them.

Gamefront has also the "you can't download files from certain countries" rule now.

GameFront chose to block half the world from downloading their files, if you'd like to see a lot of frustration here, you just need to put this berserk button and you're go.

Hellscrag, I fully understand that putting up another account on another service is a nuissance, but if you really do mean to share your files, it's time to make certain adjustments. And sadly, that means GameFront has to go.

Good services are: Dropbox (as long as you keep the file in your Dropbox/Public folder, you should be able to share it very easily, I do it all the time as of late), MediaFire, PutLocker. I stick to these three and I'm yet to have a problem with sharing my files -- also, it is VERY rare for others to have problems with my downloads.

And if you need a mirror for the files, just say the frakkin' word. I can mirror'em.

EDIT:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73582626/DOM-T ... p-Pack.zip

It's not the original archive, but a repack made from the split archives medor provided. The content is the same though. Enjoy.

Almost hate to post this, but I did some more testing tonight.

1st. I got the versions I am using from medors site. Should be the same as what Delacroix linked to although
I did not confirm that. Lets make sure I have the latest versions and we are all looking at the same stuff.

File sizes for the versions I am looking at:

DOM-DreamLand.unr --> 9,441,710 bytes
DOM-TempoClasm-v201.unr --> 16,343,919 bytes

Both zip files I downloaded contained the same version of Blank.umx that had a size
of 481 bytes. (This is the file that fails to compress to a uz file correctly)

In testing tonight, I confirmed that this version of DOM-Dreamland will run fine, offline or online
without Blank.umx being present at all.

I also got DOM-TempoClasm running online fine, but I did have to use another version
of Blank.umx that I happened to have.
You were correct about the map not caring about what version was there, but
currently the version I have on the server does not match what is in the downloads.

Players who do happen to have the maps installed, and try to connect to the server later are
likely to get a mismatch, which is less than ideal.

Great maps, and I am planning to keep them online. The bots do remarkably well on them
considering how huge the maps are. Play em at 99.67.106.156:7777

The version of Blank.umx I am using should download into your cache. (Probably along with
a bunch of other stuff. May take you a few min to get em all....)
