Because the weapons in Quake just sound....so much better than the ones in Unreal. More base. More pounding...
That's why I prefer a nail gun over the stinger.

I know what you mean, dude. The time where I played Doom 3 I always enjoyed it to switch to the Shotgun. The switching/loading sound.. it was so awesome. :D
Thats anywise a strengh of ID software.. not really explainable.

...true. Someone with expertise in modding/coding could bring 2 or 3 weapons of Quake 1 into Unreal/UT. Even if just for the fun of a BOTmatch, and even if they were just resembling in form and sound and name (as opposed to straight conversions, wich iD Software would undoubdtedly put with "cease-and-desist-case")... that could work. We don't exactly need the starting Shotgun, but bringing some form of the Super Shotgun, the NailGun (the super version? >:] ), and a simple straightfoward rocketlauncher for kicks would be nice. Making a nice version of the Lightning Gun would be great as well, and since the code for that already exists in the form of Pulse Rifle's alternate...

Because it has bots and severs available, the looks would be for nostalgia, it wouldn't look right if it didn't look the same.
Don't need any better for playing, but an SP version, graphics could go all out.
Also UT99 is more compatible, better controller (mouse look) action, smoother to run.Also Quake 1 maps had more cut throat DM action, still wish we had a painkeep mod, damn !

Yes but what makes you think an UT port would be run on servers?

Bots are already available for Quake. The Omicron Bots and the Reaper Bots (programmed by the same guy as Unreal's AI) spring to mind.

Yup. I didn't care THAT much for the Q1 maps.. look too bland. But the weapons.. well.. their models aren't that great.. but the sounds.. ah.. :P :tup: :tup:

I can't make the colour of links in posts different from the colour of links on the index page. Having the index page full of brightly coloured links would be ugly. Any colour suggestions?
