Out of interest, how's that map coming along? This jump from city to nalipente to desert has my head reeling would be cool to get at the big picture

IronKnuckle, story line is this: "kew" gets transferred to Nalipente (map 1), escapes and crosses desert to get back to Illhavenshire (map 2), confronts and kills Lord Warlengar in his palace (map 3), and then defeats siege of Illhaven City (map 4). That's the plan anyway.
Building abandoned Foreign Legion Barracks in the sea of shifting sands at present. That's the big picture, Here's a small pic for now:

Those barracks are amazing. On close inspection it doesn't have all that much architectural detail, but it doesn't need anything else added to it (of course I don't speak about the empty interior).

Looking good! How many maps do you think you'll create for this sequel? I read above about plans for 4 maps, but will that be the end, or will there be more after?

Lightning Hunter, 4 maps are all I have planned/done at the moment. After that, I really don't know! Actually, it's not the building of the maps that is tiring, it is continually coming up with new ideas that is tough!! Anyway, 2 more pics to show progress. The "road" or avenue was fun to build because I made it slightly convex and capped the sides to show up in relief with plenty of light!!

You should just include these 4 maps with the Illhaven 2012 pack! At least, That's what I think.

Back to the desert now............
Very cool stuff, I love it. Reminds me of the desert chapters from Uncharted 3 and the "sandcastle" episode from Wonders of the Universe.

You're honestly making me drool. This looks beyond delicious.

Thanks, Del. Given the size of this desert (huge), it is necessary to place masonry between points to accentuate speed of travel. Otherwise, the player just seems to be slogging along and not getting anywhere. At the same time, it is important to be economic with such masonry so that the feeling of emptiness remains. I think it will make a good "sandbox" map...................

Sand is sure bloodhungry... All corpses and no blood. That's what always made me unsettled about the desert. I do however have a suggestion.
Why not use the beta Nali for desert maps? They look and sound significantly different and I always thought that in a region so vastly different from the ones we know from Unreal and many custom maps, a totally different Nali tribe would live.
