There's no need to play it at a higher difficulty setting anyway because you dont do any actual fighting.. but thanks for pointing it out.

Definitely adding that to the buglist :o

Made some time and played it through. It was incredibly fun and hilarious, and surprisingly long. :) I got a bit confused with who the characters were and whose side they were on but the plot was in general well executed and interesting.
I did get a random bug when the reflesher didn't work in map 2 and Takk never appeared. I reloaded the game and it did it on that attempt. Also I found the messages on the train track before I was meant to due to me exploring everything.
This pack reminds me a lot of The Tower of Shrakith'a in style and in my opinion it is certainly as good as it. :tup:

I hope to see a second volume! :D

Edit: I didn't even notice where the different mappers' sections joined up! :o

Was the performance bad there? I thought this would be mentioned in the readme but it seems it wasn't; it seems that scripting is somewhat tied to the framerate, and, if it's running too slow, the AI can mess up and get stuck/slowed down (I had it happen a few times when playing on my weaker computer).

Haha, well, my User.ini sets my difficulty to 255 automatically. {I really should reduce it now that 227 makes >4 actually do something.} Now that I think of it, this might allow you to always have certain mutators on.

Code: Select all

[DefaultPlayer]
Name=[]KAOS[]Çàsêÿ©
Class=Unreali.MaleTwo
Skin=Male2Skins.Ash
Face=
Team=255
Difficulty=255

I... friggin'... LOVED IT!

Seriously, I haven't had so much fun playing SP for a long time.

Witty, creative, often biting in its wit... really well done, blokes.

So many awesome moments... won't mention them in case of spoilage, but yeah, this was way, way better than expected. Although you did steal a joke I was planning on using in a map... :P

Maybe next time, I'll join in :D

Doesn't work @ 227h and 227i. Downloaded from 2 different locations and no matter what I do this is what I get:

Code: Select all

Init: Shut down moving brush tracker for Level Unreal.MyLevel
Log: Get PackageLinker for file: CoW-01-Ahib
Log: Assertion failed: InPos<=Size [File:..\..\Core\Inc\FFileManagerWindows.h] [Line: 57]
Critical: appError called:
Critical: ReadFile failed: Count=0 BufferCount=-15621 Error=Invalid access to memory location.
Critical: Windows GetLastError: Invalid access to memory location. (998)
Exit: Executing UObject::StaticShutdownAfterError
Exit: Executing UWindowsClient::ShutdownAfterError
Exit: UOpenGLRenderDevice::ShutdownAfterError

I really have no idea what could be causing that... try another renderer?

I just played it. Man, that was a lot of fun! The build was great and the story was entertaining and creative. I hope we get to see a Vol. 2 some day.

Finished it.
But I have mixed feelings about it, especially about the ending.

At first the screen messages were ok, but after some time I thought they were too numerous, and sometimes difficult too read with the background and any distraction meant that I would miss part of the message (luckily that didn't influence the continuation).
The ending pissed me off but ... I lost the final fight and don't know if another result (and ending) is possible. If yes then I have a feeling the ending that I saw is acceptable and it's up to the player to find the correct combination to reach another ending. If no other ending is available then I feel ... kinda let down.

The real high note for me was the train section, it took me some time to figure that one out and I was really pleased with the solution.
Overall the humour was good (when I got the automag I recognised the reference immediately and had a good laugh).

Oh, there is some serious fighting for those who want it:
The first Warlord didn't like me checking the fridges and in the resulting discussion I DPed him, so I had quite a long battle with him - but the environment is advantaguous to the player so there's not much danger of dying. The second Warlord never even shot back but seemed to take longer to kill.
I'll try to play this again tomorrow - see if I can win that final battle.

You mean you
failed to defeat the Bloblet at Battlebeasts? That's hardly the ending, there's an entire third map after it! Just reload and try making better choices to defeat him ;)
Maybe I'm impatient or just suck, but...
where the hell are the jumpboots?! someone said he was supposed to give me some but never did....am I missing something?
Fixed, high-res textures was the problem.

Yes, I failed there :shy: I actually messed it up by using my largest asset immediately by moving around too much so it was a lost battle from the beginning. Anyway, glad to know that my hypothesis in my previous post is correct (so that removes my remark about the ending).
