Old forums (http://hellscrag.net/phpBB2/) crashed (some database problems) somewhere in the beginning of november 2007 and are defunct since then. It wasn't related to BU crash, the latter one was later.
About UT-RtNP conflict - you can always run an utility that fixes registry settings for UT (ie. when you copy UT instead of installing it) - UTRegFix is the one I succesfully tested, it should re-assign UMOD-s to UT installer.

... yes, thank you both for the info/heads up. On a somewhat related matter :) i'm strongly considering [finnaly] buying Unreal, of Amazon.co.uk if i find a suitable candidate. IF i accomplish this AND if the new patch really delivers proper UnrealED 2 editing, then there will be some bright days for me this summer, unreal-speaking...

227 will be available for RTNP/UGOLD. The problem is legal reasons and idiotic UPak.dll file :). Smirftsch isn't allowed to include UPak with patch for U1. SO till final stable release 227 is for U1 only. But as I've said It'll be for RTNP/UGold also (and of course compatibility will be kept between this versions).

Almost forgot, there's somewhere on OldUnreal forums post by dots with sources of UPak. You can compile 'em and then there will be no problem with 227 (but you'll not be able to play RTNP coop on servers because of version mishmash error).

You would be able to do this if you found a way to hack the GUID for UPak.u to make them all have the same one. I'm not sure how you would do that, though. UArchitect told me about his custom Engine.u and how he would like to hack the GUID so he could use some of his custom engine stuff online, but I don't think he ever bothered figuring it out yet.

It's easy to fix your UMOD associations if using Windows. If starting from scratch, install RtNP and THEN install UT; otherwise, you can change the associations manually using Windows Explorer (ask if you want to know more).

...out of curiosity, could you explain how to with Win Explorer?...

- Right click on the UMOD in question
- choose "Open with" -> "Choose Program"
- browse for Setup.exe in your UT system folder
- check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
- press OK

ALTERNATIVELY

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types
- search for UMOD
- change "Opens with..." application to Setup.exe (located in your UT system folder)
- apply

Should do the trick.

What sana said (option #2), although I normally open Windows Explorer and go to Tools > Folder Options to get to the same screen.
