Modeling thread

I've never found any thread here that would be dedicated to modeling. Don't know how many of you model, but this could be a good place for people to post their screens, ask questions, and generally help each-other out. If with nothing else, at least with kind words :D

So, without further a-do, my lastest model: a Gibson Les Paul custom.

Post yours too! :)

Holy crap whirl, that's one awesome model! :o How long did that take you?

Tonight while listening to this and thinking about some new mapping content I'll start soon, I decided to model a sort of anti-infantry / light anti-air turret. 3 hours later, it's 2AM and I should have been in bed a couple of hours ago, but at least I have this to show for myself:

Image Image Image Image Image Image

Still incomplete; I need to finish the base thingy and add some more detail to the top piece for the high-poly version. Once that's done, I'll make a low-poly version for UE1 and probably stick these bad boys into EXU2. They're designed to pop out of secure bunkers in the ground.

Yay new enemies for EXU! \o/ Can't wait :D

The guitar took me about 90 minutes to make from start to finish. Thanks for the kind words! :) I appreciate it.

That's it? Jesus christ how long have you been doing this? It would probably take me 4 hours to make that :I

[Edit] I guess while I'm at it I might as well post some older stuff:

A remake of the Condor Tech 4 AAV from an old game called Uprising. Here's shots of the original and then the new model (plus bonus horror shot of my first UV map \o/ ):

Image Image Image Image

UA is making the skin for this thing and let me tell you, so far, it is absolutely incredible and looks 1000x better than the original. Once it's done I'll post shots in the EXU thread.

The "Glorious Hellfire," a fuckoffhuge anti-starship LRPC (if only UE1 could import this, lol):

Some people will probably recognize this:

A minigun I made about a year ago based on an image; turned out pretty decent (ignore that stupid mounting bracket design; I reworked that later but haven't finished it)

McShield and McShooty:

The Stealth Tank I made and used in 7 Bullets:

And now for the Clown Corner, Comedy Option What-the-Fuck Hideous Tread Things:

First thing I ever modeled in Max, some incredibly shitty missile canister of hideousness:

Image Image Image Image

A really shitty tire:

(Here's a better tire, built while following along with a tutorial)

What in the hell:

It's a thing. I don't know why I made a render of this thing

Image

And I have some more reeeeeeeeeeally unbelievably shitty models but I didn't make renders of them, thankfully :p

You made the flaregun for EXU2 sana? :D That was awesome hehe :D

@ Waff: What are you talking about? That guitar model is really easy to make :) Besides, you've got some awesome models! I've still got a LOT to learn. Been modeling for about three weeks though. Not sure. I posted a well picture in my Resurrection thread a while back, that was the first model I ever made.

Edit: this is my post, dated for August 18th:

Yay for my first ever model \o/ Only took me about an hour :B Can't texture for shit though, so I just normalized the UVs and applied textures in UnrealEd. Too bad =/ At least I was saved the trouble of unwrapping the model :P That would probably take a few... weeks...

That mouse is fucking amazing :o Did you do the textures as well, and animations?

Mouse are made by me completely, thanks. Textures aren't finished yet, it's noticeable.
The model is rigged (ears and whiskers too, yeah! but no mouth, by design), but has no animations yet.

P.S. I was practicing this tutorial: http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/amouse/amouse01.php.
Try it out, it's really easy!

As I am on a new PC I'm showing my old works stuffed somewhere on the net. Maybe later I'll show something more, when I'll copy this 500 Gigabytes... Damn.

Umm, 3D Studio Max, for the cars Mental Ray and VRay rendering, for the cross Scanline with FumeFX plugin.

Some Maya models:

A ridiculously high-poly dice:

Image

And a high-poly sewer cap:

Image

Needed to switch to Maya, for the time being at least. I made the dice through a tutorial and the cap from a reference image. This image :D

Image

Istn't it the cutest? \o/

It took me approximately 20 minutes to make the cap from start ti finsh, I think.
