Does this mean that you can play anyone's entries when ever you fell like doing so?

I guess there's nothing to stop you, but you'd be better off spending your time mapping.

Does anybody think this would be a flawed system?

Nope, I think it would be cool if people could comment, playtest and suggest improvements for eachothers maps during the building process as well as checking out eachothers final entries while the judges are busy looking through them all.

I think some sort of playtesting is essential (I've been wondering about that), but also think there should be an element of surprise as well. Then again, I guess how people go about their threads is personal so if someone wants only private tests or something it's up to them.

Of course, it's likely that many threads won't appear until close to the six week deadline.

Only if the mapper uploads their work.

Made an amendment to the Submission section, as previously discussed. I don't think any other changes are needed.

Question:

If I want to use dialogs in my maps, can I use other voice sources than my own??

Cos, there's a problem. I have a woman on board :D

Erm... kudos? I would welcome suggestions. At present, I can't think of anything in particular, except possibly for:
  • An UnrealSP.Org e-mail address; or
  • The opportunity to lead on compiling all of the submissions into a map pack.

Any more thought on the subject?

Maybe having where it says you're title on the site like 'lurker' or 'Skaarjscout', it might say '8th aniversary contest winner'?

No thoughts really, but it's not really about the prize, is it...?

A custom forum status would be an option. Perhaps your choice of creature and title. But it's a tiny prize, really.

Would anybody be interested in web site hosting? I could potentially offer that (subject to certain restrictions, e.g. no hosting of large files)...

Hellscrag wrote:Submission

Each mapper starts a thread containing information about their entry. This can either be done in advance, or when the map is finally completed. "Final" downloads must be made available in the first post of the thread by the close of the contest on Sunday 2nd August 2009.

I missed that bit... :B

Off topic-ish

Wasn't it you who uploaded some map a little while back you said you did it in two days?

Cuz hell if thats the case, I sure as hell couldn't even compete ,6 weeks for others is like 6 years for me.

I didn't quite catch the real rules, such as

1 a friggen masterpiece level and no other need apply
2 a monsterhunt style ugly map and get mocked
3 a huge level with polys beyond unreal engine 10
4 a map with many traps, triggers, effects, story lines

it scares me about the thing that says if you had an existing map but only 2 rooms. To me means (you better make the best damn thing we ever seen on planet earth or get a dunce cap.

need some kind of meg limit, or something so the lesser mappers have a chance or guidelines.
I guess I will just step aside, but I think all maps kept secret, all maps work for oldskool, is best.

Now would be another time to bring up my earlier thought about playing the other packs, as I'm 90% done.

What will everyone else do? Leave putting a download link onto their thread till the end of the 6 weeks? Put up a download only for the judges? Give out free download to everyone? I would like to know please.

And WHERE exactly are you getting ANY of this?

Your logic is not our Earth logic. That makes no sense to me at all.
