Oldskool 2.30/2.39 difference

Just wondering what the difference between Oldskool 2.30 and Oldskool 2.39 is (http://www.oldunreal.com/mods_ut.html#O)--especially as 2.30 (the nonUmod archive) contains a readme entitled "oldskoolampd239.htm"!

Is 2.30 actually a more full version of 2.39--which is less than half the size of 2.30--and the names of the archives just a mistake? Or is 2.39 a genuinely more advanced version, with the oldskoolampd239.htm included in the 2.30 archive a mistake?

Very confusing. The readme has nothing to say about this naming issue and what the differences might be. Does anyone know?

Thx.

AFAIR the 230 version is the 239 version with some extra stuff.

Best thing to do is download them all, unpack them and compare and use the most complete version (use the UMODextractor).

Code: Select all

the 230 version is the 239 version with some extra stuff

Oh, 230 has a whole bunch more stuff. USaar has done all of us the single greatest service of any community coder, probably, but this naming snafu has surely caused more people than me to bypass the more complete version (e.g. I've been missing out on Olmodels, which I really dug when I installed 230 but got rid of in favor of 239 because I quite logically assumed it was an upgrade).

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

I just noticed that the 239 which I have installed says it's 238. I suspect the 238 mentioned is just a leftover from an update he did and forgot to update the caption.

...and the saga of Oldskool naming confusion continues...
