Did Alshar require 224?
There was a time when I never bothered patching Unreal because I had no idea how to do it (happened when I returned to the game somewhere in year 2004/2005). Then I overcame the issues and this was the first custom mappack I tried. I couldn't run map1 so I had to play from this one. This is also where I first heard SETI's second songsection being played in a level.
This is as classic Unreal as it gets, though as per the review it only managed to rival the original campaign in few areas only.
Part of an era which I wish I'd revive.

I'm pretty sure it works on any version and the problem was with the first map being broken for years, which lead to a bunch of version rumours, when it was actually broken for everyone (if it worked on anything I think it was actually a really old Unreal version).

My old comments:

"Decent enough, but the progression feels kind of obscure (I'm not sure if that trapdoor in the central area is supposed to open straight away or if it only opens later), and it's pretty random structurally although the torture chamber style gives it some theming. It mostly looks okay though, especially considering this was one of the first Unreal sets ever."
