Continuation of my favorite map; Rrajigar Mine. Love both maps.
Trying to get back into the swing of things.

Sometimes I feel Cliff never got the credit he deserved for his mapping skills. Some of my favorite maps (both Unreal and UT) were ones he made.

Nono DD, let's leave any kind of personal opinions out of the MOTW main posts for professionalism
But yeah, not a fan of this map. I remember calling it "Dig without anything that made Dig great".

I side with UB. Although the map has grown on me more and more with subsequent playthroughs. (realising that the ASMD was in this helped that along a lot)

Not really my favorite map, while gameplay wise the map is quite fine (although it is EXTREMELY linear), it didn't really establish a unique convincible theme that set it apart like most other unreal maps did. It was pretty much a generic facility map like any other FPS game did around those days, brownish, pointless crate filled rooms, lava pits... None of those actually reminded me of the fact that it was supposed to be a mine, it could've been a German WMD facility and I wouldn't have found it any less believable then it already is.

An okay map with some memorable sequences and secrets (like the asshole brutes attacking as you ride the mine cart things the hidden ASMD). It's pretty short and simple though, and in the end it feels like a part of the previous map that was cut off for technical reasons rather than a unique map in it's own right (whether that was the case or not).

From what I remember of the Beta, I think that actually was the case. Dig+dug were supposed to be one level. (that happened to a lot of maps)

Indeed. There was also later in Dug a shortcut to go back to Dig again (in the corridor with the Skaarj that you blow up by shooting at the explosive barrel).

What? I have a thing for the Mine texture pack, dunno why but that's how the ball bounces... The map before this one is the one I remember very well where the hall darkens and a Skaarj scout comes flying at you. I kinda wish Depths would've had something like that.UBerserker wrote:Nono ARR, let's leave any kind of personal opinions out of the MOTW main posts for professionalism

Awesome remix, but I don't see why you posted it here...
I always saw this map as being second best to Rajigar, I'd had enough of the mine theme, and wanted something new. Didn't really have as much originality and flow, or even feeling as a mine, as the previous map.
Still pretty fun though. Always loved blowing up that skaarj with the tarydium barrel for some reason
