Welcome! As you can tell, things look a little different around here.
As you might know, UnrealSP.org is a website for covering the single-player aspects and community mods of Unreal, Return to Na Pali and UT99 Oldskool, founded in 2001 by Hellscrag and team, blossoming under their stewardship into the internet's primary resource for Unreal single-player action.
It was on UnrealSP.org's anniversary on the 21st of June, 2014, when "UnrealSP.org v2" was brought to the public, an attempt of mine to revitalize and modernize the site and forums. Founder Hellscrag and his many contributors had built up an amazing repository of knowledge and a great community over the years, and when I took the reins, my wish was to do their achievements justice by bringing them from a 2001 look and feel to a more up-to-date one. This involved many technical challenges and I, then a fresh-faced 21-year-old, felt confident in tackling them.
However, it was not to be completed; the forums were refurbished, but the site was not, lingering in a dormant "legacy" state in its 2001 version for years, ailing from increasingly outdated technology no longer functioning on newly updated systems, and generally falling into a state of disrepair. I had begun my work life, and so my time and motivation for UnrealSP.org development grew increasingly thin, and development dragged on.
Finally, with the help and support of a dedicated staff, and years of professional experience under my belt, I was able to carry on bit by bit over the years, inching ever closer to a final product. And now - although, with Epic's abandonment of the Unreal franchise, the timing is poor, and it is not on a monumental date like the USP anniversary - the fruits of our labors finally make their way to you.
Welcome to the new UnrealSP.org website!
You can find the original content of the site, along with the many articles that were written in the temporary forums over time, as you navigate it. The site should now be comfortable to use on mobile devices, and the staff has done great work on taking fresh new screenshots and editing the content of the articles to make for a pleasant read, a window into older times.
The forums remain in their previous state and may be gradually updated as time goes on.
Many, many thanks go out to UnrealSP.org's wonderful staff: Semfry, who is responsible for the majority of the old content making its way to the new systems, ebd and SteadZ for additional support, feedback and porting work, Jigoku for an inspirational logo design to work off of, and of course the many contributors who have founded, added to, and made UnrealSP.org what it is to day.
And last, but not least: If you haven't yet, do join us in our official Discord! While the forums may be quiet these days, the Discord remains a hotbed of activity, with modders showing off their newest work, and discussion about the series continuing to take place. Whether you're new or a returner, we'd be glad to have you visiting.
