Well, that was the reason I was looking for something like this. Once you've got your OBJ animation loaded mapping a skeleton and animations to it is quite easy.

One possible application I see for this is converting all the player models so that the bottom half animates separately from the top half. 227 has that functionality and it would allow for much smoother animation transitions, better strafing etc, I believe.

Wait, bottom half of a vertex mesh animation separately from top? Really? Or you mean Skeletal Meshes?
Btw I did successfully import a brute to Unreal removing his weapons from hands. I already said that in here

I don't know if it appeared here already but...

Here's a set of tools for Undying. One that is particularly interesting is T3D Tool - it can import T3D files (exported Unreal maps) to 3D Studio Max.

Biturn - is converter of 3D files and Bitmaps. It works with most used file formats and also can work with formats from various games ( see table below ).
If you want to extract data from games, try reading my gamedata document for a guidelines. If you work with 3dsMax 5 and you don't have support for .ASE file format then download this ASE import / export plugin for best data support.
Simon Engledew has recompiled ASE plugin also for 3dsMax 6 and 7

Last I checked, the link to MapScale on the first page of this thread doesn't work anymore. Oddly enough, when I went looking for a cached version of the page, the download link for the tool itself was still active. I have posted it below:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130418170348/http://home.in.tum.de/~geisinge/sw/unreal/tools/MapScale/Download-MapScale.htm
Just click the link and it will start downloading.
Perhaps someone should add a copy to a download site we can all use, in case this link becomes unavailable in the future.

I am the Unreal archivist and historian. If you have something from the past of Unreal that I don't have, do tell.

Yep!
Slightly on topic, I've been discussing with a few people about setting up a dedicated area somewhere with as many mapping/scripting/texturing/modelling/whatevering tools there are available. We've already got a shared dropbox folder with a ton of stuff in...any other alternatives or suggestions are welcome
