All shots not seen on this page, like certain sample gun concepts and other things, have been replaced with other ideas or concepts as the project has progressed. you guys did a wonderful job to make the old unreal weapons look brand new and kickass. Not being a huge UT fan (Tournament is not for me),
I really respect the time and effort this team has put into revamping them.

Also, I do realize that those are custom models and not the originals. I wonder if those weapons could be ported into unreal 1??


***EDIT*** after looking at the asmd/stinger/automag I did realize that the new stinger does use the original mesh (or at least it looks that way)

While we have no intentions or plans to port the mod to Unreal, I don't see any reason why a weapon pack for U1 or something to that effect can't be cooked up post release. Even if we don't do it ourselves (and we probably won't unless a big enough community request calls for it. I'm not opposed to the idea), I'm sure SOMEONE will contact us about making the classic weapons exportable for an Unreal update. Just understand that everything for RD is being designed for UT and we aren't testing anything for backwards compatibility. What that means is that everything is being tested for UT, and while both games use practically the same engine...UT does have more stabilities and general updates compared to Unreal that may or may not have an effect on any of the things we're modeling, animating, and coding. So I don't even know if they'd work or not (though I think they would).

EDIT: The Stinger/Mining Tool weapon you see in the pic does use the old model, although currently that's all we're borrowing from the weapon for RD. Everything else, from code to skin to sounds to projectiles will be new. The model itself may be substituted for a new one later anyway.

By the way, those Jellyfish are wicked. I love the Lobster too, but I certainly can't wait to blow up a few Jellyfish. I just hope they aren't as potent as a Box Jellyfish, otherwise we are all doomed. :D

Okay Mister_Prophet sounds good! When RD is ready for that post release peroid you were talking about, please PM me or even better start up a post at my homepage and let us know If we at least try/test out that stinger with unreal. I figure it would be a good place to start since its using the original model.

Certainly. As long as Biterfish don't make their aggressive appearances, I'll waste all my time playing with them.

omg i'm wetting myself. Some great stuff there. The stinger looks wonderful with the new skin. And those krall eyes which light up in the dark are are 1337 neat effect.

11LensPlanet.jpg looks extrememly snazzy for some reason despite using the UT HUD. I love the effects used.

The head is attached, it's just not completely animated yet. We also haven't done the final skin, which will show off the new "eye" and some facial scarring. One of the new pix I'm waiting to show (Whenever the site is back up) shows off another example of some of the facial flexibility (we already showed the eyelid).

I only discovered xidia and the subsequent games last year, these shots are new stuff for me.
