I just gave it a shot but stopped since I reached Terraniux and had a time of 39 minutes. I'm gonna give it another try but I think the winner is pretty clear at this point anyway :B

EDIT: Is it possible to jump up to the engine room from the corridor where the 2 Skaarj appear with either grenades or rippers? I've tried time and time again and I just can't see where else MMAN could shave off 3 minutes since my first time was roughly consistent with Ghost's attempt.

After you activate the secondary power source, some doors and elevators start to work. The engine room lift is one of them. That may or may not help depending on your strategy.

Isn't there only one way to go through the map though? Get the passcode required to start up the generator, than go to the cargo room? (And subsequently the fight with the shockrifle Skaarj and then the end of the map)

That's the way I play it but I've heard people tell me they mix it up. I'm not sure how effective that may be but the idea of the Speedrun is to try different things to get out quicker.

The real trick to getting through that map quickly is not stopping to fight anyone for as long as you can help it. Unless your in a situation where you have to fight (the end for example), you should never stop moving. Another way to blow through it is using the chaingun at specific parts (it's especially good at wrapping up the survey room ambush quickly).

I don't think anyone will be able to soar through Map 2. The best you can do hope for is cutting down its time significantly.

I might also consider offering a second place prize as well, depending how many people rush to beat MMAN's time.

I will if I attempt again :P just finished and got 49:49.72 as my final time - I think I did pretty damn well for someone who never really attempts speedruns. It was definitly frustrating near the end but I managed to prevail despite having 4 health at times. I'll upload my scoreboard shots to my photobucket account now.

Ok, here we go!

Final Time: 49:49.72

Map 1:

Map 2 Infiltration of the Kran:

Map 3 The Rogue:

Map 4 Slight Complication:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... /7BSP5.jpg
Since there was armour and health right at the start of the next level, I sped myself up along the trench by razor jumping.

Map 5 Familiar Odds:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... /7BSP6.jpg
I managed to skip the underwater part and the slow door by Razor jumping.

Map 6 Lost passage of Vandora:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... /7BSP7.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... /7BSP8.jpg
I used the 'invincible during cutscene' thing that MMAN did here to bypass most of the level.

Map 7 Guardian of Vandora's Pass:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... /7BSP9.jpg
Sorry for the terrible shot here, I didn't realise how lame it was till after I had finished. In anycase, I think you can't really cut any significant amount of time from this level apart from just being efficient solving the puzzles

Map 8 Tension at Vandora's Temple:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP10.jpg
I skipped the 3 passcode bit using the Ripper, and also skipped the bossfight using it as well.

Map 9 The situation at Noork's elbow:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP11.jpg
Nothing of note here except I jumped from ridge to ridge to get down to the base rather than call the elevator.

Map 10 Beneath the Terraniux:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP12.jpg
Just another case of efficiency. I didn't know you could go left to retrieve the passcode at first, but after finding that out I managed to save some time.

Map 11 The Dead Scorpions:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP13.jpg

Map 12 Unfinished Business:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP14.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP15.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP16.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP17.jpg
I didn't get a picture exactly where you specified, but I took several including one right at the start of the next level so I hope it's ok.

Map 13 The Ghost of Oroghar:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP18.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/ ... 7BSP19.jpg

There :)

Great run JBlade

I think you got a shot at taking MMAN if you can better it by roughly ten minutes.

Congrats  It was worth a shot, but I'm glad I entered even if I wouldn't of been able to best that time. In anycase I personally would of chosen the character model option rather than the beta-testing, but that's just me being vain :P

I am not very suprised about the winner. I mean MMan has everytime done the speedrun of a MOTW. I guess thats the reason, why he won by a clear margin this contest.
