Re: 15/06/2024 - "Hellcastle" by Lord Waffnuffly "War Bonnet" Letz
Also yeah, the original Hellcastle was much much smaller from the Demo 4 and earlier days. It had its own charm, including a basic little tutorial sequence for using flares, and a firing range to test weapons. I had fully intended on replicating those areas in the new version of the map, but didn't ...

Man, how has it been like 3 years since my last post already? Time really does fly. Glad to see so many of you still around, though!
Ah, this map. I had a LOT of fun making it, even if I didn't really have a strong concept of its internal structure, so not much about it makes too much sense in ...

Old men. Warning! Warning!
I'm so glad this site is still kicking, and even thriving somehow, in its old age. I've been really tied up with IRL stuff the past several months, too, but still have that spark in me to create stuff, so once life normalizes again over the next few months, I think I'll ...

Re: Various voicepacks / player classes: Tourettes Guy, Dawn of War, etc.
I mean, there's already a Male Soldier and a Male Commando, but the voicepack creates extra copies of both... which is what's redundant.
Incorrect. They are not redundant: they exist because voicepacks alone cannot handle custom hit and death sounds. If there's a better way to do that than using ...

You can comment out or remove those lines from the .int files if you don't want them, but like ividyon said, they exist for a reason!

Nope, just .u and .int files!
Advanced Model Support has its own installation if you actually need that but it's so old at this point I'd be surprised if anyone didn't already have it set up in their install. It's pretty straightforward, though, and only needed if you use the 40k player models.

Holy shit, speaking of Tourettes Guy, apparently there was a new video released just in December last year! Can't believe this is still going, what a treasure:

Can't believe I never "officially" released these, but here you go! A bunch of voicepacks and such I've put together over the years. Enjoy!
Installation: For all of these, just dump all files into your \System\ folder, and then you should be able to access them in-game. Doesn't get much easier ...

Re: Krall bug and Movers issue
If you're playing online, monsters always see through movers; it's just a netcode limitation with the engine. I think even U1 has that issue. 227 probably has a toggle that changes the behavior, but I know UT doesn't have any way to work around it. Sorry!

Re: Things to avoid like hell in mod making
If you need comparison how bad sth might sound - launch any more recent title, set game volume at max level, set appropriate comfortable volume for your soundgear. After that run UT with identical gear volume and set game volume to the max and you'll hear how much difference is there.

Re: Things to avoid like hell in mod making
Oh, and as for the actual thread, oh man have I got a laundry list from personal experience! Here are some of the biggest ones I can think of:
> Avoid overwriting changes to your content without making backups first! Ideally, use a version control system if you do any kind of scripting, or even ...

(Waffnuffly's mods take the cake here - sorry dude ;)
Got any examples? I've tried to really refine the audio in EXU2 over the years to the point where it doesn't sound like that, because I know exactly what you're referring to having heard it in other maps and it definitely sounds like ass. But ...

I plan on it, but just haven't had much time to dedicate to it yet, hence this thread.

Warning: EXU2 may be incompatible with the new UT patch 469A
The verdict as of September 2020: Stick to the official 436 patch when playing EXU2.
Big news lately with the 469A patch dropping not long ago! This community-built UT update has a lot of really cool stuff on offer, especially with the editor, but it might not be viable for everyone in its ...
