Re: 20/04/2025 - "E'Nara Town" by Sarevok & Mike "Hellscrag" Wilberforce

For the record, my contribution was the journals, the church interior, the back garden area and the interiors of some of the houses (I also had to rebuild the house exteriors to a simpler design to eliminate some BSP errors). The rest was all Sarevok.

This map has a unique atmosphere that I don't ...

Re: 23/11/2024 - "Escape from Skaarj Base + The Betrayer's Path" by Atje & Hyperion

I'm sure Hyperion was originally advertised as a major contributor to ONP. I wonder what happened to the rest of his planned contributions, and what they would have been like?

The Betrayer's Path does enough to whet the appetite... and it's better, I think, than DavidM's contemporary "n00b crap ...

Re: 26/10/2024 - "Back Again" by Mike "Hellscrag" Wilberforce

I've seen multiple people say that they play through the first half or so but feel Deja Vu loses some momentum towards the end, and I think this being such a smooth start is part of why it's easy to push through the early maps.

To be honest, I have to agree with this general assessment. My ...

Re: 26/10/2024 - "Back Again" by Mike "Hellscrag" Wilberforce

Me and Mike have not always seen eye to eye over the years when it comes to matters of tone (although I find as I've gotten older that I have come around to his way of thinking when it comes to classic Unreal styled levels). I've said this before and probably on other of Mike's MOTW. But, he always ...

Re: 26/10/2024 - "Back Again" by Mike "Hellscrag" Wilberforce

What instinct is it that draws me back here for one of my occasional visits whenever something of mine gets posted? :D

A few random thoughts:
This is a speedmap, and it shows. In fact, I made it during my last 3-4 weeks at University when all the hard work was over. I basically 'wasted' the time ...

Re: Maps and packs without reviews

That's quite a list! But strictly speaking Sky Isles has been reviewed as part of Na Pali Odyssey - Episode One: Sky Escape - I did that years ago.

Re: 11/05/2024 - "Sanctum of O'Shatza" by Mike "Hellscrag" Wilberforce

In all seriousness, I'm still fond of this pack; IMO it's my second best solo SP work after Vacillations . The Landing , while released later, suffers from a rushed build and is undermined by its perpetually unfinished status.

The SP pack I was working on back in 2013 or so would have blown all my ...

Re: The Sky Chariot

Interesting start. I got a little confused about who the main character was. By the end of the chapter it’s Gina, but at the beginning it seemed to be someone else (an unnamed person with a cybernetic face).

I do prefer a to follow a protagonist that is at least partly likeable / relatable. Whoever ...

Re: Prisoner "849": have we been wrong all this time?

The distortion on the "4" is easily explained. The same effect occurs on "You have entered a restricted area", which comes out more like "restric-torr-d". To me, it's simply the voice of a computer system damaged in the crash.

Although we don't see the other prisoners, I imagine that there are ...

Re: Prisoner "849": have we been wrong all this time?

Welcome! It’s always good to challenge orthodoxy if you think there are grounds for doing so… (for example, I’ve never been satisfied that the Nali planet was ever meant to be called Na Pali)

…but in this case I think you’re mistaken.

I’ve only ever heard it as “849”. But as further evidence I ...

Re: [Unreal 227J] The One

I finally made it to the town!

It’s a lovely, diverse Nali town with an interesting layout and aesthetic. I enjoyed seeing the new Nali designs. I also loved the way the day / night cycle played out during the time I spent there.

I did encounter a few issues:
- Using the grapple, I actually made ...
