Are those 8 sided wheels I see? :D

Asides from that, you're doing quite well. :tup:

For those wheels, you could always pick a trim texture that looks like treads and put it on the outside, then get a side texture that's more radial to decrease the octagonal effect and give them more of a round feel. To be honest, I've not worked with tires/wheels for a long time, so it's been a while. Great job with the actual idea of the truck, though. Makes it feel a whole lot more real, while the actual room keeps that neat Unreal tech feel.

Indeed, they are :lol:

When I first designed the truck i did add some sort of a rim texture on, but when intersecting it (I'm thinking this might be UED2.1 related?) Some of the alignment was off, and then I found out that adjacent coplanars became one surface (Ex. The wheels) So I had to use another texture unfortunately

I held this back until now, but one of the things I decided to do was turn up the replayability rate of the 3 maps I'll be doing. I will not be going into details, but to sum it up, there will be 4 different ways to start the second level.

More screenshots soon :)

Nope lol, the current idea I have right now is to
Have you enter Level 2 from at least 4 different locations. 1. Through the front gates of the village, onto the mountain pass controlled by Skaarj, 2. Through a passage behind the church undiscovered by the Skaarj, This is where 1 option branches off into 2 possible starts, 3. Hop in one of the Skaarj Trucks, the Skaarj will find you and you get thrown into the prison or 4. They never even knew you were there and you climb out of the back of the truck.
All in all, you will be going to the same level, but you can start at different locations based on the direction you choose to take.

I may not be able to make it in time for the contest, school is somewhat preventing that but I am working as much as I can to get this ready before the deadline, if not then this pack will still see the light of day, just maybe not as soon as I had hoped.

Getting back to mapping after stopping for awhile, couple reasons I stopped were:

1. Motivational loss
2. Ordered this PC and i've been playing around with that (Specs below)
3. Lots of other things going on in life (found a new house finally, etc)

Intel Celeron 500mhz
192mb ram
3Dfx Voodoo 2 8mb
20GB IDE HDD
AC '97 Realtek audio(not the best thing in the world)

I ordered this and the voodoo 2 with the idea that a lot of the older games would now work (Blood, Quake2) and I never actually experienced unreal with a voodoo 2. I may consider building on that machine just to keep it more original and not overdoing on the details, who knows :wink:

Cost me the following

Computer = $1 + $14 shipping = $15
Voodoo2 = $10 + $5 shipping = $15

$30 total, I still need another voodoo2 tho, or a 12mb card, one 8mb card isnt enough for unreal Lol

Even though there was a time extension, school and moving into the new house has prevented me from finishing this in time, so for now I just have the first level, not much action here, but this pack will see the light of day (In contest guideline form and a version with custom content)

eBay = win LOL

Oh yeah, I was gonna hold off on this map too since it is unfinished, but in case you wanna just look through this in the editor, feel free.

(Not packed or converted (227h) because I'm lazy and I'm not counting this as part of the contest entry IF the entry even gets judged tho its a bit late) -> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X618URTB

EDIT: Converted and packed courtesy of Leo -> http://www.unrealtexture.com/Hosted/Leo ... Level2.rar

those specs are about the same as my previous computer lol, and you got that for €1? :lol:

anyway great that you released something, i played it and it was pretty nice.
i liked the roleplaying part like fetching their bible, could open alot of potential for "minigames"
too bad the houses were empty, and multiple routes as the translator suggested dont seem to be implented yet, atleast i took a walk through the gates but managed to start off in the truck :P
i definitely think this needs to be in the competition compilation, the more maps the merrier ;)
