Blender is the only thing I can use right now under Linux and I'm struggling with getting it to export with multiple UV's intact attached to 3 material groups.
I'd appreciate if someone could look at this and figure it out, I also need help with properly unwrapping the mesh to beable to use 3 256x256 textures efficiently.

Depending on the flavor of gnu+linux you are using you might try importing/exporting through Wings3D,

This looks rather confusing to build from source, I'll have to set aside some time to figure out how to resolve all the dependencies. (something I would not have to spend so much time on if I didn't pick a "end-user" like distro...)
