Fantastic. The scrunched look is significantly improved and the threads look way more readable now. You really went all out with this - this is something you could put in a portfolio for sure, especially comparing before and after!
Gotcha on the sidebar thing. What might be interesting is if it had something else to utilize the extra vertical space once you scroll far enough. Not sure what that might be, but something other than just a bit of gradient would make it feel more utilized.
Also, while you're at it, may want to update the thread / post icons - they still look like the old site, and have that REALLY bright thick yellow border around them, when you could probably get away with a faded gray border or no border at all and just an icon.

I don't have access to my PC right now, but the symbol problem was also on my Kindle's regular and Firefox browsers. The weird symbols are now gone on both browsers, so I'm guessing that your update fixed it on regular Firefox as well. Great work, the site really looks fantastic!
Edit: Yeah, it's working on both Pale Moon and Firefox now.

I kind of miss there being a separate front page, but this is something I could get used to. It looks great!

Once it's available, you can just set the news index as your bookmark/home page/whatever. That'll basically be the same.

Happy thirteenth birthday to my firstborn, UnrealSP.Org. This seems as good a place to say it as any.
Well done ividyon and team for seeing the boy/girl through to his/her troublesome teenage years.

Nice new layout.. yes. But the forum search seems screwed, at least for me. Trying everyday keywords like light, map, scale or something only gives 10 results or less..

Just wrote a reply to a post and before sublitting wanted to quote another post within my reply.
When pressing quote, the other post was quoted correctly but the reply which I had written in de postarea had disappeared.
Vista SP2 Firefox 30.0 (didn't try with other browsers).

Does not occur to me on Windows 7, Firefox 30. Cannot replicate.
EDIT: I believe I managed to fix the images-stretching-the-layout bug on IE11/Firefox. Can anybody confirm?

My error.
It works as it should.
What I did was post in the quickreply area and then quote another post which open a completely new postarea with the quoted post.
Posting in quickreply, then going to fulledit screen, then quoting works 100% fine.

To be honest, this is the first time I realized it's even possible to directly quote other posts by checking the thread history below the posting editor and clicking the quote buttons. Thanks!
There's a loooot of cool features in phpBB of which I don't think that most people are even utilizing them. I'll have to write up a little guide/introduction to our new forum layout/features later.
