Hourences level design book announced 13 November 2006 Hellscrag
Mapper Sjoerd "Hourences" De Jong, who worked on Ortican, Operation Na Pali and Xidia Gold for Team Phalanx before doing professional work for Epic on Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Tournament 2007, is publishing a book on The Hows and Whys of Level Design. Hourences certainly knows a thing or two about level design and conceptual grandness, and his book should be very much worth a read. Project Cancellations 07 November 2006 Hellscrag
Unfortunately, cancellations of projects are very much a part of life in the Unreal single player scene. Sarevok's collaborative map pack Broken Alliance was announced as cancelled back in October, and replaced with a solo pack, as yet untitled, details of which can be found on this forum thread. Regrettably, the impressive and incredibly ambitious Lost Secrets of Na Pali has also been cancelled due to a lack of support from its team; however, a development kit may be released to allow mappers to use new features from the cancelled mod - watch this space.
