Unreal Beta Walkthrough17. Soledad (Page 2 of 2)In this hallway you see some human gibs and some openings on the ground, with something white inside them. Walk near the first opening and, suddenly, large blades from the opening come out. Kill the Tentacle in the corridor and then you can think about the situation. This pathway has two traps consisting of deadly blades erupting from the ground. One wrong step and you’re crushed to pieces.
Here's the method for passing the two traps. For the first one, walk near the opening and be sure that the blades come out. After a while they return into the opening and you're free to pass through them. Another easier solution is running through the opening by going near one of the walls; you won't touch the trap trigger in this way. The second trap works in the opposite way. The blades come out (and in a bizarre way) if you're trying to pass the trap by running near the walls. Just stay in the middle of the tunnel, run through the trap and you're set. The type of trap can be recognized by looking at the position of the blades in the openings.
There's also a shortcut to pass these traps. Notice the windows on the right hand side of the hallway? Shoot them. You can jump through them to end up in some kind of garden. There are trees, plants, boxes of Bullets and ASMD Cores. To exit this place, just break the last window of the wall and pass through; you're now at the end of the hallway. I recommend to try how the traps work as you are forced to pass another set of them, later in this map.
Ascend to the upper floor.
Ignore the closed door and continue to the end of this corridor. You'll encounter a Krall. Kill him and use the lever after him. It opens the door you ignored before.
Go in the next area, which is the upper floor of the part where you fought the latest Krall Elites (remember?).
Fight some Gasbags here. To lower both bridges you have to destroy the metal pieces that hold them. One hit is enough, but hitting the ones on the second ledge may be a little tricky. Look around to find some ASMD Cores and proceed on the next ledge, after the second lowered bridge. On your left there's a window. You can break it but can't pass since you're too fat for the opening. It just leads to a secret room inside the tower which has ASMD Cores and Eightballs. You can then exit the room by going through another window (you still need to ghost) and landing in the floor below.
Continue into the next part of the map. Another dark corridor... and the second set of traps is here! They work in the same way, and you can pass them like before; here's the walkthrough: 1) The first trap is activated if you're trying to pass through the middle. At the end of the hallway, go on the right hand side.
The next room is small and has a big pillar in the middle; notice its base. As you're trying to pass the next door, it suddenly closes, together with the one at the entrance. You're blocked inside the chamber, and ambushed by five Pupae. Just stay on the base of the pillar, and they'll just threaten you. Once you kill them, the small door re-opens again, revealing another wave of three Pupae. As you kill them, explore this small chamber. Near the purple pool you find a carcass and a box of Rifle Rounds. Two Health Packs are also around to be found too.
Go back in the previous corridor and check your right hand side. You find a small opening leading to a narrow corridor with a box of 50 Bullets. Now proceed in the next part.
Run through a very small corridor, and watch out for a lone Pupae.
You'll then enter another room consisting of two floors. On the lower one there are two cans of Eightball ammo and some broken bricks. There are also Krall and Tentacles.
One of the broken bricks, which is found near the entrance to this area, will open a secret room near you if touched, and it contains a box of Rifle Rounds.
Proceed into the next doorway, checking also for two other cans of Eightballs.
In the next corridor you'll be fighting three tough Pupae ambushing you. They come from the dark holes on the walls.
The upper floor is made out of bridges and has some Tentacles and a patrolling Krall.
The next corridor connects in an area which begins with a ramp. Below the ramp a Skaarj Warrior hides, so watch out. Before falling in the next hole, check around for some ASMD Cores and the death of a poor Tentacle.
In the pit there are three Pupae and a Shield Belt over a demonic star. Fall into it now.
You enter a complex area. You see five openings, only two being accessible since they aren't over higher ledges. There are some Clips around if you like to explore. Go to the accessible doorway on the right hand side.
Here you enter a room with two Gasbags. This chamber has some nice decorations, two ASMD Cores and barrels with ammo inside them. Ascend on the ledge, which leads to the previous room. There's a lever at the end which activates a ramp to let you ascend the other ledge on your left. Watch out, as from that ledge a Skaarj Warrior appears. Return in the hub chamber and go in the second, accessible doorway. Inside there's a corridor leading somewhere else, with the addition of three boxes of Flak Shells inside the barrels.
The next room has Krall and a Tentacle. Other than that, there's a pool below the road you're on, which contains a box of 50 Bullets, a Health Pack and seaweed. Return above, continue further and you'll end up on the remaining ledge of the hub chamber. It has a chest containing an Assault Vest. Now go in the opening on the ledge right in front of you.
You're going to pass through some narrow and dark corridors, filled with ten Pupae. The road divides into two parts. Choose the one on the left.
Another familiar room illuminated by blue torches. In the middle there's a bridge with a Skaarj Warrior on it, patrolling. You'll find 3 Clips and 36 Eightballs, all inside some barrels at the end of this chamber.
Return to the previous corridor and take the other path. It leads to the bridge patrolled by the Skaarj Warrior. Pass it.
Kill the Tentacle and proceed. Before you enter the next area, an inscribed wall suddenly opens, revealing a Skaarj Warrior and two ASMD Cores.
You're in a square-shaped room with a great pillar in the middle of it. Go on the left hand side. You'll encounter a Gasbag coming out from a tunnel in the big pillar and some ASMD Cores. Same thing with the part on the right hand side, although the latter has a pathway which leads further in the map.
Check the last pathway of this room. There's a blue room here, with a Skaarj Warrior. It will see you, run inside the room and activate some flames below a crucifix, with a Nali on it. The Skaarj then wants to kill you. Gibbing the crucified Nali will activate a loud sound, but nothing then happens. NOTE: The Nali position is bugged in the screenshot below. Guess his real position is meant to be.
Return in the previous room and advance in the only remaining corridor. Inside it, there’s a nook with a box of Rifle Rounds.
As you enter the next room, the door behind you closes, forever. As you can see, by looking at the floor and then at the ceiling, there is a new trap: squishing platform with spikes. To avoid a quick death, you have to pulverize the Krall on the ledge on the left, as he activates the trap by touching the gold wheel. Rifle and Flak Cannon are good weapons. Fail at killing the Krall before it's too late and you'll be squished. When he's gone for good, you can dispose of the one on the right, which closes the regular exit of this chamber with a wall.
It seems you're blocked now, unless you use weapon jumping or another, better method. You'll notice a door on the empty wall. It can be opened by running around the room. Or just by touching two bricks in the corners near the beginning of the room. They are pretty hard to see. The door opens and you can go inside a dark corridor, leading in the pathway beyond the closed wall. On your left, near said wall, there's a Health Pack and two boxes of Flak Shells. Go to the next part of the map.
Running through the next corridor will cause you to experience a Skaarj Lord trying to kill you by jumping on your head. And it hurts.
The way divides again. Take the right hand side and kill the Tentacle here, then go back and go to the left. You'll encounter another Skaarj Lord. Its room has a pillar in the middle which supports a platform. There's also a corridor leading to the same part where you have killed the latest Tentacle. You may spot some ledges above you with Amplifiers and ammo for the Automag; you'll get them later.
In this purple corridor ignore the elevator and watch out for another Tentacle. A Nali will lead you to a small secret area, inside a wall, which contains an Assault Vest and two Pupae.
Use the elevator to go to the upper floor.
While ascending you'll be attacked by a Tentacle on the ceiling. The upper floor is pretty nice: there's a balcony which lets you see the top of the pillar, a road on the left hand side leading to another Skaarj Lord and a can of Eightballs.
Go now through the only visible door. Inside it there's a corridor with a Krall Elite and the way to the platform over the pillar. You'll find barrels containing more ammo and another, small door. Also, you can jump from here to get the Amplifier and the boxes of Bullets over those ledges found below.
Return to the platform and go in the small room.
You'll enter a dark corridor with a lot of Pupae and some ammo too. You're ready now for the last area of this map.
The last room puts you on an upper floor, with the hole to the lower floor right in front of you. In the middle of this hole, there's a platform with a Dispersion Pistol Powerup, but you can't get it now. You'll fight various Pupae and Gasbags along the way. The right hand side of the room has a lone Gasbag. The left side has a lever and a closed hole. Pull the lever and the platform with the PowerUp will finally be accessible. It also activates another door leading to a small room with Pupae and a Shield Belt.
Jump now into the pool below. You'll find two Devilfish and two ASMD Cores. The cave is blocked by bars, so go on the wooden platform. Going over there actually unlocks a hole in the bottom of the pool. Ignore it for now and check the cavern behind you.
In this good-looking piece of cave there are just some blue torches. At the far end there's a corridor guarded by a Krall. After it, an elevator leading to the previous area, on that hole near the lever which was closed by some bars.
To end Soledad, go through the hole in the bottom of the purple pool. After swimming for a while you'll finish the map.
17a. FHub4Back to FHub4. You're inside an underwater tunnel, and the way to Soledad is blocked by a large brick now. Follow your way and you'll meet a grate. Touch it and you'll kick it away by a few metres. It is the same grate you have noticed during your first trip in this map, and now you're coming out of it. Everything you done in FHub4 hasn’t been saved, like in Nyleve. But you just need to go to the Nagomi gate.
Arrive at the gate of Nagomi and enter the first door.
It doesn't seem that you're entering the valley of Nagomi, but another cryptic structure. See the next description...
