I tried to convert a map of mine just to see if I would have any problems with it. Whenever I try to convert a map, I get this error message:

Image

The map converter then tells me that the conversion is probably complete, and to check for the 224 version of the map. It's never there. I ran the converter as an administrator, and the same thing happened. I recently switch to 227h, so I'm hoping that that's not the problem here.

It only works for Unreal Tournament, as it has been compiled with that. Try putting the map+converter in your UT folder and running it from there.

Doh! Can't believe I missed that. :B Thanks.

Edit: When I try to convert, I this happens:

What did I mess up this time? I don't get why MyLevel is mentioned, as I didn't use it for anything. The map is right in the UT folder, too, so it should be found when I try to convert it. :/

the way commandlets work (If it is a commandlet that is) is they run in a very basic unrealscript environment where hardly anything is loaded. Using ForEach mylevel.levelinfo is a way to "hook into maps" and check for actors then mess about with them. If you've changed the levelinfo name (Usually levelinfo00 in level properties) it could give that error. 227 can use AllObjects and check for all possible names without giving an error (But then making said tool 227 only which is pointless)

I've got a brushbuilder that dots helped me with that removes all ut actors from a map so you can port UT maps easier. If you want it i can pm you it :P

edit: hungover spelling mistakes and general grammatical shitstorm. large quantities of sambuca does terrible things to your body

The map should be in the UT\Maps\ folder, actually. I phrased that wrong. :shy:
The batch is made so that you just extract the converter zip into your UT folder without having to modify anything else. It reads maps from the Maps\ folder, where one would expect maps to be.

That sort of tool would be nice to make available to all contest entrants! :o

Sorry to be an idiot about this whole thing, but for whatever reason, I still get the same error when I try to convert the map; it still tells me that it "Can't find file for package 'UPak'", and that it "Failed to find level ChapelOfTheElders". I moved the map to UT's map folder, got rid of UPak and Emitter in EditPackages, and nothing I do does anything to help. I don't have any UPak or 227 content in there, so I've got no idea what the problem could be. :/

Whenever I try to get rid of UPak and Emitter from EditPackages, they both keep showing up. Please tell me I'm not screwed with this. ><

Have you tried to convert another map? I can only repeat, what was already said: Install UTMapConverter to UT99 and NOT to any Unreal version. Copy your map into your UT99 map folder! When the program can't find the file, you get a "failed to load level none.mylevel" and a "failed to find level ..." log (like in your screenshot).

Abandon the converter at all.

Export the map to T3D.
Load all packages it's supposed to use in UnrealEd for Unreal 224.
Import the map.
Rebuild everything.
Save map.
Voila, all references to stuff you forgot to load or chose not to will be set to null.

I did install the map converter into UT, though, and I still get the same errors as before. :/ Converting other maps works, too.

I tried that, but UPak is still in the map, and then textures and coronas are all messed up. The filesize does get reduced by a lot, though.

Thanks, Gizzy, but I used an older build and took stuff from the newer one, and didn't have any problems. I must have put something from UPak in there by accident or something.
