Okay. The idea is simple. Some of you probably remember (or not) kind of a writing exercise, where someone started a story and another one had to continue. The story was passed among couple of people to finally meet the end. Anyway. I think it's time, I think you are ready to produce something like this in... Unreal.

So, basically. Someone starts a map. Like 2 rooms or something. It needs to be STORY BASED, lot'a translator messages and stuff. Don't abuse mylevel scripting there, it should be fun project and not 'omg, how to make it harder to understand for the next 'writer'' project. Then, this person passes this map, these 2 rooms, to another person who continues the mapping process. And after some time passes it on to another mapper.

Time for a mapper? 2 days. No more.

We start on FRIDAY, 29th!

It makes 32 days. Wow. 2 times 2 days per participant.
Mman will close the event and end the story.

Rules:

Rule[0]: This is an event. Not a contest. We shall have fun mapping and creating something together, we do not challenge others.
Rule[1]: Every mapper has 2 days to finish his part of the map.
Rule[2]: What a mapper adds to the map is of his choice and everyone should respect his choice.
Rule[3]: A mapper can add a room with several exits, but not less then two exits (an entrance and an exit).
Rule[3]: If a mapper can't meet the deadline he uploads the map in the VERY LAST state of his mapping process. Next mapper shall have a chance to finish previous mapper's work, but he CAN'T change what has been added.
Rule[4]: Do not leave working areas - prefab brushes, testing brushes, anything that other mapper can use. That includes no usage of 227's STATIC MESHES. :twisted:
Rule[5]: Additional scripts allowed only from the package here http://www.mediafire.com/?q68j3y5t9rqn8fw
Rule[6]: No other content can be added.
Rule[7]: Every participant shall have the map in their hands two times. So, the queue will run twice.
Rule[8]: A mapper can add as many rooms as he like, that includes outside terrains... If he manage.
Rule[8]: What a mapper added to the map is SACRED and shall not be moved, changed, modified, deleted by any means by other mappers.
Rule[9]: Story is important. But gameplay is as well.

Other rules shall be added later.

Timetable:

Timetable is based on timezone (UTC+01:00).

For a timetable for your timezone just ask. You hand over the map before midnight of the last day of your roll. You need to upload it and send it to me (I will send it further) or to another participant.

I've decided we DO NOT SHARE the map here as long as someone else is mapping. If someone's late for more than a day he'll loose his roll.

Lol, no, it's not about ubermapping, it's about having fun mapping and doing something together. That's it. And the thing that comes out of it... USP-UberOwninMindStormMayhem...

Anyway, I've beem thinking about the rules, and that there will be only one additional script available. Something that will help mappers do dialogues with characters or pawns... What do you think?

We are going to start on 1st of August no matter how many participants there will be. Circulation is 2. So everybody will have the map in their possession 2 times.

These are my suggestions. Anyone for, anyone against? I wanna hear some constructive criticism!

Even one room will do, the thing is, it needs to add something to the story. Story is most important*.

*okay, maybe not the most important but it counts. If someone is able to produce more than 2 rooms, like, 2 rooms and 3 corridors, then do it.

Myth started a similar project in the ut99.org-forums: Every mapper should build one room of a multiplayer map but they had to expanded the map at the exits of the existing rooms. The new room could have several exits as well.
The project started nicely and got huge after a month. But after a while people lost motivation and the project was dead for six months. Now, after a year since the project started, the map finally will get finished.

These were possible reasons for the large delay:
- Some mappers just wanted to build one room, they didn't have enough time (or lost motivation since they already contributed something) for another one.
- Some people always told that they volunteer but they never replied when they actually got a job
- People simply lost motivation after two months
- Some mappers needed weeks for their rooms

What I want to say is, first find enough volunteers, say clearly that mappers should participate more than one time (if necessary) and always point to the "two days"-deadline.
The faster the progress, the longer the enthusiasm.
