Walkthrough - "Xidia Gold"

Landing

Map Author: Will "Mister Prophet" Drekker
Weapons: None.
Creatures: Skaarj Assassin.
Bosses: None
Difficulty:

Xidia's second map can be classified as an intro for the fights that follow in the next maps. You'll get the taste of the upcoming ambushes that will reveal to be as hard as scary. Evidently a good thing for a SP pack.

You'll begin on a balcony placed on some mountains. You can see the Sky-box behind you. What you see is just fake, and if you fall, it's not water welcoming you, but a plain invisible sheet in which you'll die if you jump here. Just don't fall!

In front of you there's an entrance into a desolated human mining facility. The door seems to be protected by two inactive Cannons. They are indestructible so ignore them. On the balcony, apart the ship, there's nothing, so enter the door. Before passing it, the mission briefing, which gives you the objective, appears:

"Mission Update: It's time Jones, the team will remain here until you've confirmed that the transmitter generator is back online. Be fast, but be alert. Get back here as soon as the power is back online."

The corridor you enter is pretty much desolated and it contains all kind of "scary stuff", mainly fume build-up, broken lights and complete desolation. At the start, in the roof, there's another Cannon. After passing the door on the right, you'll hear a sound which reminds you of a Krall's staff twirl. Directly after it, you'll get another message:

"Mission Update: With the main power line severed, it'll be dark in there. Use your light and watch the shadows. I have a lock on your translator signal, I'll direct you to the generator, it's ahead and to the left."

Continue to the door. You'll see a broken vent shaft on the left. If you go near it, a Pupae sound can be heard. Enter the next room.
It's another empty corridor, but not as empty as you think. A few steps, and a box in the distance fall, revealing a Skaarj Assassin who runs away. Go into his area. The door on the right side seems to be opened, and it leads to a dead-end full of boxes and chair. You must use the Skaarj's route. While going for his corridor, check the panel on the right side:

"Warning: Power levels at 30%. Main power generator deactivated. Minimal settings administered. Venting and pumping systems restricted to reserves. Lighting set to minimal capacity. All security systems offline."

While entering the next door, some Vortex Rikers-eseque sounds can be heard. The next corridor is another lifeless one. Aside from the cool view on the left side (one of the windows is broken. Take note of this), you hear just a Skaarj's Squat sound (he's probably in the ceiling). The door on the right side is locked, so go in the one at the end of the corridor.
You'll enter a small, Engineering room. You'll firstly get a message...

"Mission Update: Ok Jones, your doing good, we're tracking you inside Turbine Room One. The only way out of this room besides the way you came in is a door directly ahead of you. You must go through that door into a round corridor and enter a door marked, "Containment Field Generator"."

On the right side, there are two large vent shafts which you cannot enter. The first one will produce some harmless explosions, while in the second one you'll see the Skaarj Assassin again. Check the panel on the left:

"<<System Error>>"

Do the same with the button near the broken door:

"<<System Error>> Door 46A-Code 2739, Pressure trigger damaged. Severe surface battering detected, maintainance supervisor has been contacted."

It seems you're stuck. But you know that, in Unreal, violence is sometimes the right way to go? Shoot the middle of this broken door to destroy it. Any weapon works, so use the Dispersion Pistol (DP).

Enter the next corridor and proceed. Watch out for the pit in the middle! If you fall, a killing pool of yellow water (sewers, apparently) will welcome you. Proceed in the middle part of this pathway. After some other Skaarj sounds, check on the right side for a locked door. You'll also notice another Cannon in the roof.
Run to the end of this corridor to enter another room. Another message you'll get as you pass the crate:

"Mission Update: Ok, to your next left you should see the entrance to a support bridge, that leads to the Southern processing Facilities, that is not your objective to explore. Follow this hall to the terminal wing."

If you go on the left side, you'll enter a door denominated "BRIDGE". It's an outside area with a bridge over a pit containing killing water (it kills you because there's no way to go back. By logic!). You just find at the end a locked door and a message over the small Steel Boxes:

"Lewis, Log book: Had another one of the "squidys" in the pipes today. Damn things keep getting into the collant gates, I'm gonna have to speak with Judd again, hes not gonna be pleased. These things are nasty too, when we pull 'em out with the hooks, they thrash about, one of them almost ripped Reily's arm off! I'd hate to be in the water with those things. (dated 4/11 shiftcycle A-4, 2 months ago)"

Return back in the previous room and proceed to the end. After some Vortex Rikers sounds, you'll notice on the left a vent shaft with some Tarydium Barrels near it. Shoot them to cause a harmless explosion which will open the shaft (now you MUST stay back!). Follow your way to go in the next room, which is actually the one after the hangar-like doorway you see in the previous room. This area is desolated as hell. After exiting the shaft, there's a message for you:

"Mission Update: The room your in is a supply room, the door on the lower level leads to the mainframe terminals, you can break off that route to the emergency power generator. The upper level in this room is just a maintance balcony, the lift leads to the fluid proccessing room, which contains the corridor to the generator, but if our floorplan map is right, you can't reach that lift from your location. Unless you can find another way, somehow..."

In the floor below, you can find two Clips in the illuminated nook, plus if you near the door on the right side...

"Mission Update: Jones, thats the door to Mainframes, why aren't you procedding? Wait, we just got a reading from your dropship's scan. Seems theres a power cable malfunction leading to the pressure trigger for that door. Your gonna have to find another way, try to reach the lift above. If power is still running it should take you straight down. If not, look around at the nearby vents, they also connect to the next room."

Now return to the balcony above via the crates. The lift on the right side seems broken:

"Maintainance Lift: System error, contact section supervisor M. Reubens, or the nearest staff section comander."

To go forward, you just need to shoot the vent shaft near the elevator and the area's only entrance. You'll open it so you can pass. There's nothing, apart some screams and bullets coming from a hole above. Lots of blood!
Proceed to the next area. The BlackSun song starts. The room here is pretty broken and full of blood. The panel you'll find has, obviously...

"<<SystemError>>"

Continue until you stop against a door. The well-known Vortex Rikers scene can be heard and felt again. After that, the door opens to a bad-looking corridor. Notice above the Cannon. There's a message in your way too, highly useful I have to say:

"Mission Update: Ok Jones, just follow this corridor down to the transformer room. We're getting some interference by the power generators, so you may not be able to speak back to us for a few minutes. Stay sharp, the biggest problem you should have down there is a little distortion in the lighting. It's highly unlikely that anything dangerous is nearby."

Continue through this path full of blood, bodies and Skaarj Sounds. Equip now the Combat Assault Rifle (CAR) and arrive at the last part. When the lights shut down, turn on your Searchlight to see a vent shaft on the roof, and start to have your finger on the "Back" button (prepare to run backward in other words). After a while, all the lights turn red in an alarm-eseque way...

Strong Enemy fight: Skaarj Assassin
Health: 300
Difficulty:

When the song "Butterfly" starts, this mean that the previously seen Skaarj Assassin will come down from the ceiling (clearly from the illuminated vent shaft). He's not hard. As the battle starts, fill him with CAR's primary fire while running backward like mad. Due to the fast shots, the Skaarj Assassin will just only manage to run in certain moments and shoot some projectiles. Dodging these are easy, just strafe left and right (while still going backward). Try to shoot the guy always in the head. He'll die quickly and you'll not (hopefully) receive any damage. This Skaarj is actually very fast, as are his projectiles.

The action song stops and you can proceed at the end of the corridor. SAVE THE GAME! Go in the left side and open the door. Another message in this new room for you!

"Mission Update: Ok Jones, your in the transformer room. Just activate the backup generator and get back to the dropship. The real soldiers will take over from there."

Press the panel at the end and you'll finish the level. The real challenge will start from the next map, so be prepared.

NOTE: It's possible that the next map doesn't load and you are stuck. This happens pretty often. This is why I advised you to save the game before this part.
