Walkthrough - "Na Pali Haven Redux" a.k.a. "Sky Town Redux"Na Pali Haven ReduxMap Author: Will "Mister Prophet" Drekker Jones arrives with his ship at Na Pali Haven, going inside a hole found in the rock formation of the island. Like in the original Sky Town, you'll start in the same position, right after the door which separates you from the underground caves. You're armed with a Dispersion Pistol, Akimbo Automags (40 ammo), Combat Assault Rifle (300 ammo and 6 grenades), a Translator, an infinite Flashlight and a Body Armor. Ascend the first staircase where you'll find a dead Nali with an Automag and a book. You can read a message from the book itself: "Father Tagatha of the Vandora Guard, log entry: Our meager forces have used the captured airship to arrive to our once cherished Haven. The skydemons have butchured our peaceful brethern, but we managed to overthrow their first wave within the first hours. We lost 7 warriors. There are 40 of us Vandora Guard defending what remains of our Haven, but the skydemons keep coming. We set up a sanctuary in the storerooms under the Inn, but it won't hold. I must find help..." Get the Automag and exit from the tunnel to arrive once again to your beloved Na Pali Haven... albeit looking less safe than it ever has done before. Ascend to the valley on your left but proceed to the courtyard behind the barn. Jump over the fence and take a look on the ground: there are nine Nali Healing Fruit; not bad at all. Proceed on the left hand side and notice the opening on the small balcony of the barn.
In the courtyard, you'll encounter two Nali Cows and a Nali in front of a crucified mate of his on the wall. Below the corpse there are two CAR Clips, so get them and read also the message: "Father Gierg of the Vandora Guard, log entry: On the second night of the fighting, several of us Vandora fathers found evidence that one of our own is acting as a skydemon spy. This betrayer is vile, yet cunning. Many of us approached the Bishop with our findings, but our leader seemed not to care. Has his wisdom allowed him to see past the betrayer's plot? In any case, we must procede with caution." Check now what's under the wooden bridges. There are three barrels; two of them contain a box of 50 Bullets, so get them. All the other doors are closed here, so return to the beginning of the island and take the way to the Obelisk. Guess what? The door leading to the centre of the island is closed, so you have to go to the way of the barn. Equip the Akimbo Automags and look above: there's a corpse of a Nali attached to plank, while there's a hole from that building. Walk right below that hole and check your left hand side, clearly to the opposite building. Once you're right under the hole, the first Skaarj Commando will make a straight jump from it, landing near the other building. He's armed with a Shock Rifle and he can cause some problems; the best way is to go right near him when he lands and then fill his body with Automag ammunition, using the secondary fire non-stop. He won't have even the time to react. If he's able to melee, just run backwards a little and when he stops, return to him and finish the job. Once he's dead, get his Shock Rifle and save the game. Ignore the barn and proceed to the road which leads to the main plaza. BUT, walk only in the middle of it and run like hell where the first Skaarj Commando appeared. A Skaarj Bomber will throw some explosives at the house in front of you which can outright kill you in one hit. Once the explosions are ended, check for a dead Nali on the left hand side for two packs of CAR Grenades and a full Combat Assault Rifle (you may want to save the latter since you can get 300 ammo for your CAR from it). Seems like the road to the main square is blocked once again by the wooden gate, so you can only enter the barn. Inside it, there are two barrels with two Seeds. Now, to open the door to the barn you have to use the lever, so go for it and equip the Combat Assault Rifle. Face the opposite wall at the lever and use it. A nanosecond later, a Skaarj Commando breaks that wall you're facing with a Shock Rifle, and if you don't retreat with well-timed dodges after triggering the lever, you'll eat a lot of energy balls that you don't want. Use all of your crazy movements to run away from this corridor and if you can, shoot the Skaarj with your CAR's primary fire to make him slower. Once you have managed to escape to the previous room, spam your CAR on the enemy and do your best to avoid his attacks. Done? Get the Shock Rifle and enter the barn. You'll find two Nali Cows and a Baby Cow; about items, there's a Shock Rifle, a Shock Core, three Seeds and a message: "Father Shyre of the Vandora Guard, log entry: We've been forced out of the main town and to the underbelly of the cellars. Many Skydemons have fallen, but our ammunition is running low. Me and two other Vandora fathers will attempt to sneak back to the town at night to salvage supplies. We must stay low, the airships circle at night." Use the wheel to open the door to the courtyard and to unlock the nearby building found outside; go in there. There are three barrels with three packs of CAR Grenades, while the door to the next area is blocked. You have to use the stairs to climb to the bar saloon found above. Here you'll find a pair of Thigh Pads and a message: "Father Melnori of the Vandora Guard, log entry: Our main forces have been pushed back to the Inn. We cannot hold out forever, if we wish to be victorious, we must penetrate the hidden skydemon facility inside the mountain. The entrance is underneath the waterfall, but we are unable to unlock the flood gate. There is an activation panel somewhere in the town, I and several others have been scouting around searching for it. I will report my findings to the Bishop (dated several days ago)." Seems like the doors are all closed here, but if you look the bookcase, you'll spot a weird white book. Touch it and a secret passage will open; it leads to the second area of storage below the saloon.
The place here is a bit deserted. You'll notice two M2HB, a.k.a. the Machine Gun Turrets you used in Xidia. Try to see how they work (especially the one on the stone fence), because you can easily screw up if you don't use them in the right position (you'll be disarmed just for the turret, but the turret isn't under your control and you're unable to attack if you don't choose a weapon). There are some barrels that contain two Seeds, a Clip and a Shock Core. Now save your game and put yourself in the middle of the room, just right between the two pillars. Face the broken staircase (covered in this case by the pillar) and proceed.
Suddenly, you hear the Cellars at Dasa Pass action music – time for a battle. Skaarj Seekers, which are small, not durable but strong in offence Skaarj Scouts with the Berserker skin, fall from the floor above, behind the pillar you're facing. The reason I told you to stand behind the pillar is because the Skaarj Seekers won't spot you for a good while. Take your time to run to the M2HB over the steel crate and kill every Skaarj you see. Just aim and shoot, they'll die after three bullets. Skaarj Seekers come always in pairs, and you'll have to kill 12 of them. Once you've killed them all, the music stops. Now, get to the other M2HB and face the locked door, because a Skaarj Commando with a Shock Rifle will break it and will come for you. While you're making your way to the second M2HB, don't rush like mad to it! Otherwise with one wrong step you'll fly over the fence, jumping right in front of the Skaarj Commando; you'll be screwed obviously. Kill him with the Machine Gun. Watch out for something though: a Skaarj Seeker may still be alive! (the Skaarj Commando's appearance is triggered once all the Skaarj Seekers have appeared, not killed actually). Note that you can break some pieces from the two pillars; this is useful to see better the Skaarj Seekers hiding behind them. Get the Shock Rifle from the fallen Skaarj. You'll get a small cutscene which shows the second floor of the area becoming accessible. Climb over the fallen plank. Here you'll find 40 Tarydium Shards, your first Dispersion Pistol PowerUp and a message: "Father Melnori of the Vandora Guard, log entry: It has been a few days since my last entry, after I write this I will leave my haven in this tavern near what remains of the barn. I will take the secret tunnels back to the Inn, but I'll leave extra supplies behind in this section of the town, hidden inside the wheat barrels. If any of my brethern read this, meet the rest of us in the Inn. And beware the betrayer!" Wondering who the betrayer might be, take the corridor found here and use the lever to activate the two doors in the saloon. Make your way to the second floor of the barn. At the second ledge, a small earthquake occurs; I don't know if the pillar which falls apart here can actually you, but stay away from it. The secret area is already open and it is now a normal room. There are two chests containing two Medical Boxes, and a message on the table: "Barn Keeper, K'ashka, journal: The fighting has gone on for days now, the Vandora Guard who came to defend us are fighting like warrior poets, but alas, I fear the skydemons will never stop coming. They bring tanks and airships now, rumor has it that the forces controlling the Haven are lead by three demon lords. I hear these three demons have red skin, some of the other villagers call them "Red Nemesis". The Vandora fathers are led by the warrior known as "the Bishop", I've never seen him, but I hear he supernatural powers granted to him by Vandora herself." Save your game now, because you have to pick up a key found on the balcony just near you. No, I'm not crazy, but is a chance that when you get the key, you'll fall from a higher position in the sky, and you won't like it. Go back and proceed to the next room. No enemies, but 40 Tarydium Shards and a message: "Father T'nshk of the Vandora Guard: Father J'Nnrk managed to retrieve several crates worth of the Human weapons left behind from the Thunderbird that crashed near the Sunspire Valley. We have many of the machine-gun weapons, which is the nick-name some of the Humans we met in Harobed told us they were called. We call them Firespitters. We had a crate of the long, sniper rifles, but they were ambushed by the skydemons. Hopefully Melnori has had better luck locating supplies than I have." Proceed, and trigger the lever to open the hole in the middle of the barn. Yeah, again just like in the original Unreal. The pit has the Mining Tool, so get it. Equip the CAR and choose the grenades, plus save your game. The same Skaarj trap which happens when you get near the door is here again. The difference is the Skaarj himself... Boss Battle: Red Nemesis The first hard battle of this map. The main problem is the lack of devastating weapons such as the explosive ones, although the Mining Tool and the CAR will be able to make up for their absence. The Red Nemesis fights like an enhanced Skaarj Berserker, so you can expect to have him always near you, shooting you with projectiles with amazing accuracy and finishing the job with a melee attack. Unless you use the right weapons, you won't survive for long enough to to kill him. First of all, get a good start. Equip the CAR Grenades and trigger his appearance. Once you see him falling from above, hit him with a grenade. Good damage done, and now? Now you have to face the Red Nemesis like a man. Move continuously around him while shooting with both the CAR's primary fire and the Mining Tool's secondary fire. The trick is to get close to him, triggering his melee attack so that he's vulnerable especially to the Tarydium spread-fire (shoot him now), then you can escape again. With the right timing you can do this trick as many times as you want, one after another, although the Red Nemesis is still faster and will escape from you, while shooting annoying projectiles. If he's a long way away, go for the CAR. If he's closer, go with the Mining Tool, and use the secondary fire at the right moment, otherwise he'll do a long and confusing dodge. Try to stay away from the exterior walls because there are chances that you'll get stuck by the Red Nemesis himself. Also, don't only strafe, but dodge, since the Skaarj will be capable of hitting you always with his projectiles; just do a leap to the almost opposite direction to the one you're taking. There are also some pillars here. They seem to eat the Skaarj Projectiles if they touch or go near them, so you can use them as a temporary protection while you're using the CAR. The bad news is that the Red Nemesis can break any pillars (even the ones made of bricks) just by touching them. Just do your best at confusing the Skaarj by triggering his melee attack (watch out for the rare moving spin, which you don't want at all), and use the maximum strength of the Mining Tool. After the Red Nemesis dies, the door unlocks and you can proceed into the corridors. The wall is here again to be broken, but for now check the pathway leading above. Don't worry about the Nali, he won't be scared this time. At the end you'll find a Mining Tool and a message, both on the table: "Father T'nshk of the Vandora Guard: Melnori went back to the Inn, I wish him luck in his journey back through the tunnels. I will remain here, I told good Melnori that I would try to round up a few of our peaceful brothers who are hiding out in the town and bring them to our shelter under the inn. So far I found the Barn keeper. He is very kind, but fearful of leaving. He says that he saw a Red Demon in the shadows. Red Demon? Surly not one of the three Demonlords who control the Haven? If so, I must be cautious..." Seems like there are other two Red Nemesis somewhere... use the lever to unlock the door to the barn and return to the broken wall, found below. Destroy it and enter the dark room. Inside you'll find five Spinners. Their acid spits are quite hard to avoid, so retreat to the previous room and kill all of them with the Dispersion Pistol. Two of the five Spinners are found near the staircase which you're going to ascend. There are also two barrels containing a Body Armor and a Health Pack. Use the staircase to arrive at the bar, rather deserted now. It's pretty dark and there isn't much stuff; equip the Shock Rifle and once you try to go to the second floor, a Skaarj Lord appears from above. He's pretty easy, just lure him to the floor below (and in the meantime, hit him with shock beams), so the Skaarj Lord will greatly slow himself while descending the staircase, leaving him completely vulnerable due to not dodging. Once he's dead, return to the bar and check the staircase. There are two barrels under it, containing two Shock Cores. Go above and check the large table. It has three CAR Clips and a message: "Nolath, Town Scholar, journal: The explosions get louder each time, the fighting is expanding. I pray for our brothers in the Vandora Guard to be victorious, but the skydemons out number them! I overheard one of the Vandora Fathers speaking about an attack on the Mountain base. The Vandora guard has some sort of weapon taken from the crashed Thunderbird near the Sunspire vally. They say the weapon will emit a "great fire cloud" that will destroy the entire mountain. They call it "Vandora's Hammer". The only trouble is, how will they get inside?" Now save your game and go to the final room. You notice a M2HB on the right hand side, and that's your objective instead of the lever. The reason? When you put your second step in the room, three Skaarj Commandos, from the roof of the building on the other side, destroy the wall on your right with shock bolts. Use the Machine Gun turrets to kill them. If one retreats away, re-load the game (he won't come back, and he may cause some trouble later), and if one falls in the courtyard between the two houses, check quickly his position and use the M2HB to finish him. Use the lever, get all the possible Shock Rifles dropped by the enemies and make your way to the main square. On the way, check the dead end on the left for a Sniper Rifle and two boxes of Rifle Bullets. The Sniper Rifle is going to be very useful here, so try to use it only when needed, as the ammo is also rare. Head for the square (note the M2HB) BUT don't go into the middle. Instead, check for an opened window on a building on the right hand side. A sleeping Skaarj Seeker is in it but you can't see it. Although, the crosshair becomes red if you're aiming him, so unleash the secondary fire of your Dispersion Pistol, plus a single bullet from the Sniper Rifle.
Once he's dead, check the opening in the building on your right hand side.
A Nali is waiting for you, but once he moves, someone snipes his head. Yeah, there's a dangerous Skaarj Commando with a Sniper Rifle, over a tower on the left hand side. Equip yours too and strafe slowly to the right, while aiming at the tower. Once you see the body of the Skaarj Commando, shoot him three times in the head to kill him. The dead Nali dropped a Stinger, so get it. Nearby there are also two Nali Healing Fruits, a Shock Rifle and a message: "Unit #3182, 3rd blood pack: We've taken the town, but the rebel still attack. They hide in the dark undertunnels and in the remains of several of the buildings. The Nali Bishop has told us that the remaining rebel forces are centered in one of old sewage lines under the eastern part of town. He tells us that they use the tunnels to go through the cellars. I do not know why the Bishop betrayed his warriors, but our commanders in the outpost are taking special care in keeping him well protected." HA! The Bishop was the betrayer! Oh well, like we care anyway. Check the end of the ledge for two boxes of 50 Bullets and another Body Armor. Go back in the square and check for another M2HB, on your right over a wooden box. Save your game, go near this M2HB and walk toward the statue. A cutscene shows a Skaarj ship breaking through the lone building, killing some Nali and destroying the statue in the process. As you regain control, run backward like hell. The main problem is not the presence of Skaarj Seekers coming from the opposite side, but a Skaarj Commando who has appeared from nowhere inside the building behind you, on the second floor. To make him jump down, just run past the Machine Gun Turret and go back, then quickly use the M2HB, the Skaarj Commando will jump down. Kill him with the M2HB before he shoots with the Shock Rifle. Now you can take care of the 12 Skaarj Seekers appearing in front of you, on the other side. You also notice two Nali armed with weapons. These are the famous Vandora Guards, and unfortunately, they don't work and won’t attack anyone. Don't worry if you kill the Vandora Guards, since they are counted as enemies and will actually increase your score. You can see if a Nali is a Vandora Guard when your crosshair becomes red if you aim him. Once all the Skaarj Seekers are dead, check what's behind the Skaarj ship. There are three Skaarj Commandos armed with Shock Rifles, just behind the dropship. You have to lure them out one by one: shooting them with shock bolts is a good idea, but try to be visible only by one of them at time, otherwise you'll be dead in less than 2 seconds. Once you manage to make them follow you, use the M2HB on the iron crate, found at the beginning of the square, to kill them. Pick up their weapons. Check the land behind the dropship and equip the Sniper Rifle again; on the left hand side there's a tall tower with a Skaarj Commando on it. The same tactics of the previous sniper works here. This one dies with two hits on the head. Check the land for three Nali Healing Fruits and go to the right. You'll arrive at a dead end with the second Dispersion Pistol PowerUp and a message: "Father 'Ci of the Vandora Guard, log entry: The betrayer was our very own leader, the wise Bishop! How could such a noble warrior turn from wisdom? My heart is shattered, my will to fight is gone. How can we hope to survive if the wisest of our elders, our very own teacher...betray us? Na Pali is lost....lost..." Return to the square and check the corner which leads to the Obelisk pool. There's a dead Nali with a Stinger here. While you're at it, you can return near the entrance of the barn, facing the church on the mountain. You may spot a Skaarj Lord trying to run somewhere – just shoot him with the shock beams, he'll easily die due to his AI dumbness. Return to the square and take the road on the left. There's no one in the first pathway, except for a dead Bird. In the second road, there's a pack of CAR Grenades and a message: "Father Benj of the Vandora Guard, log entry: I must get back to the others and tell them that the Bishop is the betrayer. I curse the day I praised him as our valiant leader. I watched him kill Father 'Ci, and then the skydemons nailed my poor friend's body against the wall, like all the others. I know not why the Bishop turned, but if we are to fail, then with Vandora as my creator, I will dedicate what remains of my life making that traitor pay for his crime against Na Pali..." Say mission failed to this poor guy. Equip the Shock Rifle and go ahead. From the left hand side, another Skaarj Commando breaks the wall to make a surprise attack on you (every Skaarj Commando has a Shock Rifle - you got it by now). Retreat back and unleash your best when the Skaarj is jumping from his position; a shock combo or a well put CAR Grenade are good for starting the fight. Then finish him with shock beams and do your best to avoid his (the cartwheel helps too). Get his weapon and proceed. The door to the Inn is closed, so go forward again. Suddenly, you see a cutscene showing a cool-looking, grey Nali meditating in a room built by the Skaarj. He’s the Bishop, the betrayer of the Vandora Guards. He'll tell you this: "...Do not be alarmed, two armed warrior from the stars. I am the one known as the Bishop, I am speaking to you through the white sight, what your species calls "telepathy". I know much about your race, I advise you to turn around and leave this haven the way you came. You will only find death here if you procede. You will never understand my reasons for betraying my kin, you cannot save the Vandora Guard, nor can you save Na Pali. There will always be oppressors, coming from the stars to take the blue ore from our soil. Leave now..." Just ignore him and proceed. Advance slowly to the opening on the left hand side, because in the courtyard there's another one of those Skaarj ships. This one is armed with two Minigun Turrets, and they're good at hitting you. Once your crosshair is red, this means that you're in a good position to hit the Minigun Turret. The Dispersion Pistol works well here, especially the secondary fire. Otherwise, make yourself sure about the real position of the turret and strafe to left and right like mad by throwing your green Dispersion Pistol bolts at it. If the cannons continue to shoot even if you're behind the wall, just go away and return: the Minigun Turret will be back to normal.
Destroy both cannons and do the same for a third one found around the pool area, on the right hand side. This one is a bit harder if you are right handed. Now exit to the valley. There's a Nali Cow, some empty barrels, and three Nali Healing Fruits found at the end of the ledge on the right. Now, make your way behind the mountain (the Outpost 3J shuttle bay is still present obviously). At the end, there's a third Dispersion Pistol PowerUp, a Flak Cannon with 25 shells and a funny message: "E.B.M., USM survey operative, log entry #1337: I ate some Nali fruit and couldn't stop shitting all night. Plus, the wound I suffered in the Spire battle seems to be infected. If that isn't bad enough, I think that Nali chick gave me herpes. Dunno how much longer I can last in this condition, it is starting to smell like rotten cheese. I lost my CARifle in the struggle, but my Flak has enough ammo to hold me over. I sure hope this town is friendly..." Return at the valley and pass the door leading to the Obelisk lake. Equip the Sniper Rifle, because on the far left, there's a Skaarj Commando with the Sniper Rifle hiding below the archways. Advance slowly and shoot him three times in the head once you see him. Get his Sniper Rifle quickly, and check the area for three barrels containing a Body Armor and two CAR Clips. Last thing, DON'Tjump in the lake, for humanity’s sake! Go back in the pool area where you have destroyed the third Minigun Turret. Seems the water is not here anymore. For now, don't jump down, and stay on the ledges. The barrels contain nothing. Follow the ledges, that lead only on one side of the square-shaped tunnel. I recommend to take the way opposite at the staircase which you've used to descend here, because you'll get an easier time with a group of Spinners found in that accessible side. There are four Spinners, two of them above and the rest at the bottom. Advance slowly and hit the spiders you see with both attacks of the Dispersion Pistol. Avoiding their projectiles is difficult, due to their splash damage. Dodging is necessary, but don't drop down! Once you're done, return above and be sure to have a Body Armor and the maximum amount of health, then return to where you have killed the Spinners and drop down. The spiders were protecting a message: "P'pyn, local minister's journal: The town chemist continues to aid our brothers in the Vandora Guard with his medical wisdom. I have been making supply runs using the hidden sewer system, bringing the Nali warriors some of the holy potion. Even in small doses, the chemical revitalizes wounds, even giving the user a vitality boost beyond normal boundaries. The chemist has made several large gallon doses somewhere in the village, the effects of potion that size are powerful indeed..." Said potions are just nearby. Three Health Vials, and they restore 20 health instead of 5. Obviously they bypass the limit of 100 health points. Get the potions now since you won't be coming back here. Go now to the opposite side and break the wall to access the Inn's storage area. On your left there are two archways containing Nali and three Bandages, plus a message: "Father Beedo of the Vandora Guard, log entry: I pray to Vandora to bring comfort to our wounded. All of us have injuries of some kind or another, many of us won't last through the night. The skydemons get closer with every push, and with each confrontation we lose more of our brothers. The Bishop be damed for abandoning us! If only he stayed, we wound have won. There are only 23 of us left..." Check now the centre of the room, and you'll see nice stuff. There's an arsenal here: two Health Packs, a Body Armor, a pair of Thigh Pads, three Mining Tools, 180 bullets for the Automags, 550 bullets for your CAR, together with 15 grenades. At the opposite side of the entrance there's an M2HB. You see some Nali inside the elevator, and they'll descend down when you try to approach them. They had the Vandora's Hammer. All around you there are Vandora Guards, with the exception of one Nali inside one of the archways. Try to run away from the Inn, by going through the entrance, but you'll be blocked by a force field. Some Skaarj Seekers will appear near the elevator. Attract their attention and take them out with the M2HB. The next ones won't spot your presence so you have to make yourself visible again. When you kill 12 of them, suddenly part of the environment breaks apart. It's the fury of a Skaarj Special Forces - a super Skaarj Commando, comparable to the Skaarj Sniper Elites found in Xidia's Derelict. This one is equipped with a Combat Assault Rifle and can easily kill you if you don't assault him non-stop with your Machine Gun turret. Once he's finally dead, get his CAR and proceed. While using the M2HB, don't worry about the Vandora Guards at all, but watch out as they can attack you if you hit them too much. Go through the tunnels, and after the U-turn, you'll be attacked by two Minigun Turrets over the slope. Just don't be visible by both of them and use the Dispersion Pistol. Continue some more and the Bishop will contact you again: "...You have not payed heed to my warning, if you continue any farther, death will surly find you. You will not accomplish anything here, not even the Savior could stop the Sky Demons, even after he slayed their Dark Mother. There will always be oppressors in my world, whether they be the Skaarj, or another race seeking to enslave us. Even a race like yours. Leave now, I will warn you no more..." Now, you're in the final corridor. Once you arrive at the locked door, it will be suddenly destroyed by a Skaarj Special Forces found behind it. He's strong, and he's equipped with a Sniper Rifle. You'll probably be hit when he appears. Quickly retreat back. The Skaarj likes to run close to you, so you can simply loop his melee attacks (avoid them by running backwards, obviously) and execute him with the Mining Tool's spread fire; primary fire will be also good when he's further away; just be quick before you eat some strong bullets. Get his Sniper Rifle and enter the main area of the Inn. Unfortunately, there's another Skaarj Special Forces found on the ledges of the second floor. He's equipped with a Mining Tool and he'll attack from behind (he's just on the bridge over the entrance to the room you've used). This is tough: stay away in order to avoid his crystals and pummel him with the Sniper Rifle. Five hits on the head are required to beat him. If you don't want to waste the bullets, you can use the Shock Rifle's beams and combos. Watch out as the Skaarj Special Forces can call the attention of a Skaarj Lord found in one of the chambers above. Sometimes, it's possible that the Skaarj Special Forces will jump down (or get stuck while trying to jump down). If he's stuck, use the shock combos. If he jumped down, you can go outside, running away from him while you use hitscan weapons. Get his weapon and check the Inn. Equip the Automags and go to the chimney. A Skaarj Commando will fall from above. Like the first one you've killed at the beginning of the level, you can just stay near him and shoot him with the Automags' secondary fire until he's dead, avoiding the melee attacks when necessary. The secret passage near the counter is already open. Inside it there's a Health Pack, two Seeds and a message: "Town Founder, Berenthius's journal: My beautiful town is a bloody war zone. The remaining citizens have hidden inside this Inn, but they Sky Demons keep coming. The Vandora Guard's numbers are dropping. They plan to make a last assault on the Mountain base, using the weapon they found in the crashed Thunderbird. I hope they make it..." Time to go to the floor above. The first room has already a surprise: a dangerous Minigun Turret. You just need to be quicker. Enter now the second floor of the main room. There's a message on the bridge on the right hand side: "Town Founder, Berenthius's journal: A team of 12 of the remaining 23 Vandora warriors have taken "Vandora's Hammer" with them through a hidden sewage tunnel that leads to a unused part of the mountain base. They are being led by Jarek, who was the Bishop's second in command and is now leading the remaining Vandora Guardsmen. If they manage to destroy the mountain base, it would cripple the Bloodpack's forces. I pray for them as I await my fate. The Sky Demons are coming, and our defenses in the Inn won't hold..." Check the chambers on the left. The first one has a sleeping Skaarj Lord on the bed (Note: it's the same Skaarj Lord I talked about during the last Skaarj Special Forces battle). Fill him with Tarydium crystals in the most violent way and he'll die quickly. Oh, there's a chest as well... it can contain a Health Pack, a Seed or the only Pupae you'll encounter in this map... Just hit the chest while you’re on the bed. Check the other rooms of the same side. The one on the right has something interesting: two boxes of Flak Shells and a Flak Cannon with 25 ammo. I recommend getting the latter instead of the boxes. There's a message too: "Father Melnori of the Vandora Guard, log entry: Been 16 hours since my last salvage run, I do not think I will leave again. Jarek is preparing his team to bring Vandora's Hammer into the mountain, I will remain with the remainder of our forces and do our best to hold the Inn. If it is my time to die, than I am happy it is along side my brothers, fighting for our freedom. I am prepared to die, but I will do everything in my power to keep this building safe. May the Gods watch over Jarek and his warriors." The other room has a Nali SCUBA Gear (the charge is almost infinite) and a message: "Father Jarek of the Vandora Guard, log entry: In 10 minutes I take my team down the elevator in the cellar and make my way to the Mountain base. If I fail, the Haven falls. This our most dire hour, the Vandora's Hammer MUST be detonated! I only wish I could face the Bishop, the betrayer has hidden himself deep in the heart of the mountain, and to get to him one must confront the Red Nemesis. I do not know why they allow him to live or what they are planning, but they must be stopped. Vandora....guide me..." Go back and go in the only remaining chamber. It has a message: "Father ZiPhan of the Vandora Guard, log entry: I remember a time when I was happy. I was a child, innocent and free, playing in the fields by my home in Glathriel. Then my joy was shattered, the day "they" came. I've lived this warrior's life for so long, I can barely remember anything else. My will to fight has left me, if our own Bishop is capable of turning then there truly is no hope for any of us. When the Skydemons break in, I think I'll let them take me. Any eternity is better than this, I don't want to live like this anymore..." There are also 60 Tarydium Shards and a Mining Tool. The lever is here too, so use it to activate the door of the building which you see from the window. Save your game. Before you exit this chamber, you'll hear some Shock Rifles being activated. Yeah, two Skaarj Commandos have appeared on the first floor of the Inn's main area. To pass the second floor without being discovered, stay always in the middle of any bridges and crawl (crouch button; the character's collision height is halved like in Xidia). Once you arrived at the staircase, descend and equip the Sniper Rifle. Advance slowly while aiming to the main area. You'll see a Skaarj Commando found far in a corner. See his body? Three hits on his head (or four or five if you get the body...) and he's dead. You probably won't make it since this attracts the attention of the second Skaarj Commando who'll run after you. If the first one is still alive, retreat over the staircase and do a shock combo in the room below; then wait for them with the Mining Tool while you gradually retreat through the previously visited areas. Get their Shock Rifles and go outside. Now, you should head again to the town square. Why? Some Skaarj Commandos have appeared, in front of the Skaarj Dropship this time. Just don’t enter the square and spy them with the Sniper Rifle's zoom. Two of the three Skaarj are visible; hit on the head two times the first one you see and retreat. These two Skaarj will be now chasing you. Retreat and equip the Shock Rifle and take them out in an epic battle made out of beams. Someone will be stuck jumping at the entrance of the pathway, on the small hill. The CAR is also good. Now only the third Skaarj Commando will remain, and it's on the opposite side. He's stupid though, as he'll not chase you, but he'll hide behind the ship. Just run near the dropship and crouch to see his legs. Fill those with the CAR or with a shock beam. He'll retreat, then come back, or even going on the left. For the latter, just strafe to the right a bit and you'll see his shadow; use the Dispersion Pistol's secondary fire. Repeat this sequence until he's dead.
Another wave of Skaarj Commandos is found in the courtyard found behind the barn, near the first group of Nali Healing Fruit that you've seen in the map. Take the barn route to arrive at the courtyard. Equip the CAR and check the area below the small balcony (the one found on the second floor of the barn). There's a Skaarj Commando here. Quickly retreat back near the barn and use the CAR on him like mad. There are some possibilities that you'll be hit by a shock beam. There's a second Skaarj Commando who’s in the same position as the previous one. Same story as before... If you don't like being hit by these two guys, then try to lure them inside the storage with the M2HB. I haven't tried this method though. Now, the door near the beginning of the level leading to the lake with the obelisk is unlocked. Equip the Sniper Rifle and open the door. There's a Skaarj Commando also with a Sniper Rifle who's looking in the other direction. Do your best to hit him three times in the head before he has a chance to return fire. Quickly enter the place and watch out for a Minigun Turret near the landing pad. Use the Dispersion Pistol's primary fire to take it out. Be sure to get the dropped Sniper Rifle from the fallen Skaarj and fight another Minigun Turret on the extreme right, just in the corner. Use the cover available to protect yourself from its bullets. The area has four CAR Clips behind a crate (near the second cannon you destroyed), the last Dispersion Pistol PowerUp (inside another crate) and a message: "Lord U'lgnai of the 3rd blood pack: Our seeker teams have burrowed themselves inside the undertunnels, hunting the remaining slaves. I do not understand why the slaves' own leader betrayed them. I've heard that this Bishop can talk through his mind, I do not believe such a thing. I hear he is in the mountain outpost, making some sort of deal with the Red Nemesis twins. The 3rd Nemesis is leading the seekers throughout the shadows under the town. We will crush the slaves." On the ground near the lake, there are some empty barrels and two Nali Healing Fruit. Now you have to free only the last valley of Na Pali Haven which you have visited. Make your way to the place where the Bishop contacted you for the first time. Equip the Sniper Rifle and advance slowly by watching what's outside, on the left hand side. The first thing you'll see is a Skaarj Commando found near the mountain on the opposite side. Kill him with the Sniper Rifle and be fast, because after a while, a second Skaarj Commando will start to chase you. Just go away from the doorway, equip the CAR and shoot like mad at the first enemy you see. If your timing is right he will be never able to attack. Proceed inside the last building you’ve unlocked, near the great lake, and use the lever to unlock the nearest one (just like in the original Na Pali Haven).
Go inside it; there are two barrels containing two packs of 50 Bullets. In the next room, two messages can be read on the panels. The Observation Center is back: "Observation Center: Kill any Nali that walk the sky town, even the citizens. The Red Nemesis orders that all Nali be killed. We will not tolerate rebellion. All members of the Bloodpack are ordered not to harm the one known as the Bishop, the Red Nemesis commands this. Reports indicate that a lone Terran is running about, killing our troops. Eliminating him is your secondary objective." "Our Scouts indicate that the remains of the Nali forces are held inside the Inn. The Red Nemesis have dispatched several Seeker teams to hunt them down. The betrayer has revealed that a powerful weapon is in their possesion, find it and disarm it. We may be able to use it to our advantage once this matter is resolved." Use the elevator to ascend to the second floor and be sure to stay in the middle of it. Save the game and equip the Flak Cannon. The corridor has two big crates in the middle, and behind them, there are two Skaarj Special Forces, one is armed with a Mining Tool and the other one with a CAR. Slowly advance to one side until you see one of their bodies. Now use a Flak Grenade and go back. Both Skaarj are angry and want to kill you, although they can’t pass. You must be careful of the CAR Grenades though, because they bounce on the walls before exploding. All you have to do is strafe to the left and right and throwing Flak Shells at them. You can also use the shell's metal pieces on the walls so that they'll bounce to the enemies. CAR Grenades work too. Just don't run past the crates. Once they are dead, get their weapon and unlock Outpost 3J's underwater entrance: "Mountain Base Underwater Entrance Door Controls" You'll get now various cutscenes showing the Nali with the Vandora's Hammer that are fighting with a tough wave of Skaarj Commandos. Go back and you'll get another call from the Bishop, who’s trying to annoy the hell out of you: "...Your continued irritation does not seem to falter. My once beloved kin has managed to infiltrate the Skydemon's mountain base...because of your help! They wish to use Vandora's Hammer against me, but you...yes I can see your thoughts, you have a different objective don't you? You have no understanding the havoc your mission has caused, come to me two armed warrior...I await you..." You've done everything on the island, so get everything you left (health, assault vests, flak shells, ammunition, etc). The only thing you must not do is try to access the Inn's storage from the empty pool. The force field is still active and you’ll be stuck in the pit if you fall into it (unless you fly but that's counted as a cheat). Done? From the last valley of the island, drop into the lake and go below the waterfall to access Outpost 3J. Just don't drop in the pool from any other area because you'll have to face an angry group of Biterfish...
Through the tunnels, you'll face two Cannons that use Skaarj projectiles. They are attached to the roof and are slow at shooting. Use the Dispersion Pistol and exit from the tunnel. Looks like Outpost 3J changed here. Ignore the items in the corner (unless you really need them) and press the panel. The EMP has been activated and the primary mission is accomplished. Now you have to escape, and that's pretty fun. Save your game and the pool is closed by a moving door. Boss Battle: Red Nemesis Twins Oh yeah, two Red Nemesis now. You fight them one after another. Both of them are identical, even compared to the first one you killed in the barn. This doesn't mean that the battle will be easy, especially when you have to face two of them and in a more dangerous area. But now you got the Flak Cannon. The first Red Nemesis to appear is the one behind the door on the left hand side. Equip the CAR and shoot at him when the door opens. Now he'll probably chase you. The same story again: try to trigger his melee attacks and hit him with the Stinger's secondary fire and the Flak Cannon's primary fire. Dodge if necessary, and when he's running toward you, use the Flak grenades. When he's further away, use the CAR. Same thing for the second Red Nemesis. To balance out things, use mostly the CAR for the first Red Nemesis and Mining Tool for the second one (since you'll be probably injured by the first Skaarj, and the Mining Tool is better than the CAR in this fight). The Flak Cannon can be used for both. Continuously strafe and dodge around the Red Nemesis to confuse them and try to not to miss your targets. Simply two strong Skaarj Lords. The trick is to force them to do melee attacks, as their projectiles are incredibly hard to avoid. Maybe after re-loading three or five times you'll probably be victorious. Once they are both dead, a cutscene shows the Bishop running into the corridor where Nali and Skaarj were battling, who are now all dead. Get all the items in the arena (clearly a Body Armor, 80 Tarydium Shards and 6 CAR Clips). One of the two Red Nemesis chambers has the room of the Bishop. It contains two chests with two Seeds, and the Bishop's log: "The Bishop, personal journal, last entry: In return for my freedom, I have made an agreement with the Red Nemesis to reveal the locations of various hidden rebel outposts, including the secret location of the Vandora Guard. 20 years ago, I would have never made such a pact, but in my elder years I find myself a different Nali. I'm tired of running, tired of living in constant darkness. I'm tired of being a leader to a pointless cause. Na Pali will never be free, but perhaps I can save my own life. Some would call me selfish, but I feel in my heart that this is the right choice. After all I have endured, after all I have lost... I think I deserve my freedom. A day without fear is enough for me..." What a selfish creature. Go back and open the large doors. Inside you'll find a Nali with 100 Tarydium crystals, five Health Vials (in total 100 points of health) and a message: "Father Nikto of the Vandora Guard, log entry: The Skydemons were waiting for us, no doubt aided by the Bishop's intuition. Lost 4 warriors in the initial attack, the rest of us covered Jarek as he slipped past with 2 other Nali. The Vandora's Hammer is set and is counting down according to the time limit we agreed upon. The alarms will detect the bomb only 5 minutes prior to detonation. Those who are left are escaping through different routes. May Vandora help us, this had better work..." The small panel has one as well: "Code 718 is in effect: Intruders detected in levels 2,6,7, and 12. All units are ordered to defend Outpost 3J." Use the elevator to arrive at the top. The door to the shuttle bay is locked, so you have to take the vent shafts. The Bishop speaks with you: "...You have defeated the Red Nemesis, even I did not anticipate that. You are more than you seem. But I have looked deeper into your soul. You and I have alot in common, we both did not chose to be great warriors, but because of circumstances beyond our control, we found ourselves leading lives we did not want. Sadly, it is the only thing we know. Yes, I see you clear now, Warrior from the Stars..." You'll find also a Shock Rifle and two Shock Cores. Drop now in the corridor which you've seen in the cutscene. Along the way, you'll find two Automags, three boxes of 50 Bullets, another set of five Health Vials (once again, 100 points of health), a Body Armor and another message from the Bishop: "...In another life, we may have been brothers. But you still think me to be insane, which is understandable from your perspective. But do not dare to judge me, for one day you may become me! I have accepted the fact that I will never be free unless I live on my own terms, as selfish as they seem. This is survival, nothing more. Come to me, warrior, meet me and embrace me in combat. I await you...." You'll enter a large, circular room. There's a pit in the middle, and the railing is broken on the opposite side. You have to fall from there. Equip the Sniper Rifle, and when you fall in the pit, aim at the door on the left hand side (facing the middle of the pit obviously), in front of the staircase. Boss Battle: The Bishop Okay, here's a quick strategy to defeat this dude in some seconds without taking damage. Like I said above, equip the Sniper Rifle and zoom to the door I talked about; is the one which opens, so if you choose the wrong one you can always re-load the game. See the door which is now opening? The Bishop is behind it. Snipe and hit his head continuously before he exits from his small room. If you never fail to miss him (the Bishop is slow), he'll never be able to attack, trying to escape from the room in the meanwhile. Seven/eight bullets to his head are required to beat him. You'll get used to the strategy in seconds.
If you fail, re-load the game because it's quite impossible to survive his Chaingun’s bullets. He won't die, but he’ll teleport away (together with the Chaingun...). Search the arena for a box of Rifle Bullets and head to the opposite door to the one from which the Bishop came. Lots of alarms. There's a dead Nali with a Super Health Pack (it actually boosts your health to 200 instead of 199!), 13 Rifle Bullets, 150 bullets for the Automags and a pair of Thigh Pads (which don't work). Proceed through the corridors and the Bishop will contact you for the last time: "...You are a true warrior, you have beaten me. Your silver rescue vessel comes from the stars, coming to save you. I know now of the Vandora's Hammer that will explode soon, ending my life. I am too wounded to search for it. I have enough left in me to prevent your escape. I will die, I know this. Vandora awaits me with her loving embrace. Perhaps I will find redemption in her tender caress. But for now, I will settle for destroying your ship when it arrives. We will die together..." Time for the battle. Enter the arena and see the expressions of Jones and the wounded Bishop.
Boss Battle: Wounded Bishop HA! Really easy battle. The Bishop is extremely slow and isn't even capable of dodging; plus, he's easily stunned. Once you see him, spam Flak Grenades or use the hitscan weapons to kill him quickly, more than you can ever expect. Be sure to keep moving, otherwise he'll succeed in hitting you with his overpowered ASMD. The Bishop makes a long fall, landing in the first area of Outpost 3J. Jones says goodbye to him and you finally complete the map! A few cutscenes show the Vandora's Hammer blowing up the entire mountain base while the Nali survivors watch the fireworks. Jones fly away from the island with his dropship.
If you finished the game on Easy difficulty, you'll start it again, and you'll find a Flak Cannon in the first room. On Medium, the Bishop's ASMD will replace the Flak Cannon. On Hard difficulty, you'll find the Bloodpack Ripper but it is heavily bugged; experience it in 7 Bullets. On Unreal difficulty, you'll play as Spencer and you'll get new weapons such as the Pulse Rifle, but even this bonus map has various bugs that try to force you to not play it. Hey, don't forget about the Easter Eggs though! At least you can try to find them in the bonus maps.
