Walkthrough - "Déjà Vu - Gryphon Revisited v2.01"Kra'filnish ValleyMap Author: Eightball Maniac and Lightning Hunter "In the heart of occupied land..." Ouch. Without good skills, say hi to DV and don't play it anymore. This map is the hardest of the pack, and has incredible tough (not unfair but fun too) battles, mostly revolving around Skaarj, especially the Troopers. These latter come with a new thing: a black suit, identical to the Xidia Skaarj Trooper of Sky Town Redux. Fortunately, apart from visibility (the mountains are almost of the same color) they have not have any properties changes. Just a look to make them "stronger"... and it works too. Not to mention this level has two bosses, and one of them is VERY hard. Let's start the doom now, I written the walkthrough of this map in another way... "Kramer, log: Skaarj are hot on my trail. I swiped one of their data cores from a ship that was in the valley. They wounded me, but I'm all right. Earlier I got shot at by several Skaarj Snipers who were standing high up on the cliffs. I'd better check the top of all those cliffs from now on before I get my head blown off. I'm going to try to make it back to the fortress area before nightfall." This will advise you about some Skaarj Snipers that will wait you outside. Still with the DP equipped, advance. See the head blown off and walk outside until you see a Skaarj Berserker on the left, behind the rock. Now retreat in the cave (near the dead body with the ammo) and wait him here. When he's far from the exit, start shooting him three DP red bolts. Don't worry, the Skaarj is incredible very passive and tend only to run at you, forgetting to shoot (not always though). Try to push him to some raised rock (there should be one near the dead body. Otherwise block him into a closed nook) so he'll get stuck and get then a dumb death. Now return outside and walk until you see a Skaarj Assassin on the right. He's one hell of a coward, and he'll lure you to the snipers. Solution: return to the real first part of the cave and wait the Skaarj here. When you'll see him, use DP and try to make him dodge to a closed area, otherwise he'll exit the place again. Dead? Ok. Let the DP recharge to max and then go outside (use slomo 100 to make the recharge shorter). It's time to deal against two Skaarj Snipers. They all both on the mountain opposite at you: one on the extreme left (on the edge) and the other to a small ledge on the right (just look and you'll see him). They have black suits to make themselves semi-visible. Now stay at the exit of the cave. You can use the DP to kill them... no joke. Just do what I say: save the game, use the Rifle to aim at the Skaarj Sniper on the left (start with this), switch to the DP and shoot. You'll hit him (this one moves though, but it is still easy) and he'll not spot you (just stay FAR away and he'll not see you). Do that again with another DP shot and a secondary fire lame one. After his death, run below his mountain (just stay more on the left in order to not be seen by the other Skaarj Sniper) and check if the Rifle fell to the ground to be picked up. If this not happens, reload. If yes, now you should have your Rifle ammo to max (if you haven't used it until this point). Now return to the cave and deal with the second Skaarj Sniper, and save the game before the battle (same reason as before, now you'll know). After the first hit, the Skaarj Sniper will move to the extreme right of the ledge (from your POV). Kill him again and see if the Rifle fall. If fell, save the game and go to its position, which should an heightened piece of grass before the group of Skaarj found behind the rock in the next part of the valley. Don't get the Rifle, just when you arrive there, SAVE THE GAME. Equip the Rifle because it's time to face the first tough group of Skaarj. First Skaarj Group Fight: The second hardest Skaarj fight in this level, just because of the two ASMD Skaarj Trooper and the dropped Skaarj's Rifle on your left that will disappear after some time. You just need to be quick, patient. Accuracy is not optional also. Just a second after you arrive at the place, equip the Rifle and start shooting at the head the first Skaarj Trooper on the left (two headshot, but it's impossible anyway) before he can react. Be sure to strafe when necessary. As the other two Skaarj have spotted you, strafing becomes a must. Be quick, use Rifle on the Skaarj Gunner (try to kill him if possible), and then go for the third Skaarj, using Rifle (don't waste more than 8. After you touch 42, get the dropped Rifle on the left) and ASMD normal shots. Be patient, as he likes the Shield a lot. Stay always in the same position and you'll hopefully prevail. You just need to be quick, as the Skaarj will come one after one. Sometimes a Gasbag will appear on the left, in the nook between the mountains. He can be killed with three seeking Eightball rockets. There's no other easy way to beat this group with being less harmed possible. The rest depends on your skills, that are a requisite for beating this map. Once they are all dead, take out the Gasbag on the left mentioned above with the Eightball and be sure to get all the dropped weapons of the Skaarj. Watch out as if a Skaarj died near the ruins and you have to get his weapon, a Skaarj Sniper will shot you from above. Use Invisibility to get the weapon and retreat back. Deactivate the item and kill the Skaarj Sniper found guarding on the mountain over the ruins. Same thing as before, and don't worry if he drops the Rifle. "Powell, log: I'm uneasy about splitting into two groups. We stood a better chance against the Skaarj when all of us were together, but I guess the others didn't think so. At least Caruthers isn't in my group. That crazy guy is too unstable, especially with that minigun in his hands..." "Log entry, Janus Patterson: The military's been snooping around the entire area for the last few days. I don't know what they're up to, but I hope they don't find us. I sure as hell don't want to go back to the slammer, and neither do the others." "John Carter, log: Late last night we discovered that the Skaarj had a teleportation device set up in this valley. We made a run for it, but we failed badly. We're currently hiding from Skaarj forces in a set of ruins. They haven't seen us here yet, but that doesn't mean they won't. I just hope the other group comes to find us soon." Now, proceed to the valley which leads to the big lake plus Caruthers's area. On the left you should see a nook after a mountain, where a Gasbag hides. Just let him goes near you so DP close ranged tactics can be used (lure him to a safe area as well). Now save the game and look on the top of the mountain at the right: there's a Skaarj Sniper. This guy cannot be beaten with the previous Sniper strategies, unless you put yourself near the ruins and kill him from there; I haven't tested this though. I just killed him by staying below his mountain. The shoot him with the DP and retreat quickly behind the rock on the right. Then I do this again until I killed him. You'll get the hand soon, you just need to be careful at quick Rifle shots (something he likes to do). After he's dead, time to get the Kevlar Suit in the lake. But watch out for evil Biterfishes! They are stupid enough to miss you anyway. Now save the game because you have to fight another (incredibly) hard Skaarj battle. The team is found on the path to the valley on the right, which leads to Caruthers's cove. Second Skaarj Group Fight: This shows that the number of enemies isn't the only factor which make a game hard. These two guys can destroy you in seconds. Stay far from them, and the ASMD Skaarj will become a nightmare; stay close from them to die in two seconds :P Now go below the mountain where you have killed the last Skaarj Sniper and save the game (don't stay on the area where you can see the Caruthers's cove!!!). Equip the Invisibility and the Rifle... Boss Fight: Caruthers Ok, the hardest boss of Deja Vù. On Unreal difficulty, he's a Godlike bot with 125 health and with a Minigun. He never misses (95% chances of an hit) and the weapon can kill you in seconds. Not to mention he can see and heard you from miles. When he dies, get his Minigun and the Armor. There's also an Health Pack if Caruthers hasn't picked it up. Now go around here for some messages: "Sanders, journal entry: We attacked a Skaarj transport when it flew past our position. The transport crashed and threw the two Troopers out into the air. We killed both of them before they knew what was going on. Now to find the other group before more Skaarj show up." "Henderson, personal log: There's no way that we can use the transport after it crashed. That bastard Caruthers is too trigger-happy with that damn minigun. Looks like we're still traveling on foot." "Jennings, log: Damn that Caruthers! I'm getting sick and tired of him and his egotistical manner. If he doesn't straighten out soon then I'll probably shoot him myself and enjoy every moment of it." "Caruthers, personal log: Killing the others was easy enough. They never expected me to shoot at them, and they definitely weren't prepared for evading a minigun. I stowed their weapons in the transport for the moment. Now I can work by myself unhindered. I'll hang around by the wreck for a while and rest before I move on." "Captain Relnix, log: With all of these assignments that I get stuck with from command, I'm never going to finish my work on that transport! And the race is coming up next week. I'll never be ready for it at this rate." "Captain Shaal, log entry: Once we're done with this pickup and get back to base, I'm going to wring Haal'fren's neck. He stole my best tusk cleaner and I know it! He won't live for much longer." The inside of the ship has a Minigun, Stinger, ASMD and RazorJack. Of course, pick up them if they are really needed, otherwise save them before the end of the level. Check the message on the panel also: "Location Z-14 is due for another pickup. If we don't get there on time our heads will end up on platters. Looks like we'll be right on time, though, as long as nothing slows us down." Now as the doom-guy is dead, you can explore the previous area just for a NHP near the lake. Proceed to the valley on the left now. When you arrive at the big area, equip DP. Time for another Skaarj battle... Third Skaarj Group Fight: Compared to previous ones, this is easier. Firstly save the game as always, and check the field, by staying at the start of the big area, over the heightened piece of earth found just before it. You'll spot a Skaarj Scout on the right and a Skaarj Gunner near a rock, on the left. Start shooting a DP red bolt on the visible Skaarj Scout mentioned above (he'll eat it, don't worry) and equip Rifle; aim for the visible Skaarj Gunner's head and shoot it like mad, until he dies. Now the other Skaarj will come and they'll beat you with blades, rockets and stars. Is easy: use Blades on the Scouts and charged bombs on upcoming Skaarj Trooper/Gunner (three bombs = KOed Skaarj). Just stay before the raised terrain and destroy them from here. Retreat more if you fell overwhelmed. Now get the dropped weapons and take note that the two Skaarj Gunner drop Rocket Cans while from the Skaarj Trooper a Razor Ammo. Now run across this valley, to the next path, where a Gasbag will welcome you. Same DP strategy as always. Enter the path now. The first nook on the right has a dumb Skaarj Warrior stuck in his position. DP him to hell, he'll never chase you. Walking again, you'll find a second nook on the left with a NHP. At the end, you'll find yourself at the start of the valley, just where you have killed the first Skaarj Sniper. Now return to Caruthers area and proceed to the next path here. You'll find a dead body with a Rifle (19 bullets!) and an Amplifier... you know the rule, even for that item. There's a message though: "Major Tal, log: Looks like UMS is going to be losing a sniper. There's no way I'm going to complete this mission or get out safely." Proceed through this area until you arrive near a small space on the left, after the series of mountain. Another Gasbag of lameness. Try to lure him in the previous area for safety issues. Now return where you stopped your advance, stay on the left side and watch the next area to see a Skaarj Infantry (he's on the right side after the raised rock). Fourth Skaarj Group Fight: Easiest Skaarj fight of the level. What you have to do is this: walk on the left side of the path you're on, and stop in the position near the one where you have encountered the last Gasbag. Now check the area for a Skaarj Infantry (he's on the right, after the raised rock). Now shoot a DP red bolt at him and the escape to the Caruthers area. He'll chase you, along with another Skaarj Infantry. They are pretty much against the chase though, so it's better staying in a position in order you not see them and they not see you (Caruthers's cove). Although you have to be visible at certain times otherwise the Skaarj will just cease the hunt. When they are near enough the dead human's area, assault them with the Stinger. The battle is not hard, just stay far from them. They are stupid and get stuck most of the time. Get their dropped Stingers. They also have two Stinger Ammo. Now advance in the area where you saw them for the first time and look on the left. Save the game also if you want (or if you are afraid... although you have to save the game every time you do something correctly)... Strong Enemy Fight: Stone Titan Pretty easy. Take him to the valley you used to come in his area and fill him with red DP bolts (no Amplifier please). Once the DP is discharged, use 120 Tarydium crystals as a second resort. Now the Stone Titan is weakened enough to be KOed with a DP (mix primary and secondary fire). Avoiding his stones is easy... just strafe to left and right and retreat behind mountain nooks if you fell overwhelmed. After the Stone Titan is dead, get the two Stinger Ammo dropped by the previous killed Skaarj and the Stinger Weapon you left in Caruthers's cove. The Stone Titan area lead to the ruins area by going to the right path, while on the left there's the road to the last parts of the map. Anyway... look around this area, near the mountain, for a NHP. Then we have an useless lake with evil Biterfishes and a Devilfish which can be easily killed from ground. Now go to the valley on the right, where you'll pass a body with a uber-useful Eightball with 44 rockets (so don't get it ABSOLUTELY) and a message: "I'm never going to make it through this valley alive. My leg is already broken, and I've got multiple wounds. I'm losing blood fast. I've got to push forward before it's too late..." There's another NHP also, after this body. Now run to this path and equip Rifle. Stop until you see two Gasbags flying over two Stone Titans. Now stay in a (far) position in order to see only both Gasbags. Save the game and snipe them from your location, and don't waste more than 7-8 rounds. They'll not attack, just try to get near you without any hope. Once they are dead, save the game and advance a little to see the two alerted Stone Titans. Strong Enemies Fight: Two Stone Titans Both beasts are alerted after the death of the two Gasbags, so attract their attention with a shoot (preferably to the nearest one). Both Stone Titans now know where you are, so retreat in a lower position of the path you're on and try to lure only one Titan. Sounds hard but it's easy. You should stay on the right side, so the boss will stop before the raised rock on the right (the one without palm). If he's stuck here just to throw rocks (he'll it the mountain most of the time so don't get afraid too much: you'll avoid just by using strafes and cover) save the game. If you're lucky as hell, the other Titan will forgot you and stay in one position without doing trouble to other enemies (chances of this are 10%). That's the hard thing of the fight, but this is just only for those who want to kill every monsters for the score (maybe you can try to see what he's doing while dodging the rocks. It's just pure luck. Or use Mutate spyd00d and viewclass titan :)). Dealing with the first beast is easy. As he's stuck behind the stone, pummel him with Amplified DP shots, 40 Tarydium crystals and 50 blades. If he's still alive, finish him with the DP. Watch out at the bouncing boulders: you may get one even from behind. Once he's killed, save the game and wake the other Titan. Same strategy: make him stuck behind the raised stone, use 44 rockets and DP shots until he dies. Save the game and get the Stinger Ammo at the start of the level (inside the cave), that Eightball with 44 rockets dropped from the human body, the Razor Ammo dropped from the Skaarj Trooper in the area where you fought the third Skaarj group and the Amplifier. Don't get the Rifle near it YET. Fifth Skaarj Group Fight: After reading the files above, the fight sounds impossible... Not really actually. For the additional guests, it's pretty rare that the Ice Skaarj Leader and his "guys" will be alerted. If you don't mind the score, that would be a good thing nonetheless, if it happens (only one time to me). After their wanted death, rob their stuff and head for the middle of the Titan area, in order to check the next valley from a safe distance. Your next fight is against a... Strong Enemy Fight: Behemoth He's pretty easy seems you have tons of rooms to avoid his attacks. Just stay away, lure him to a safe place (always in the same area) and destroy him with DP (some Automag bullets too). Now time for some items. If you haven't checked well, near the entrance of the Stone Titan area there's a body with an Eightball (26 rockets) and two Rocket Cans, plus a message: "Minks, log: Damn it. Getting slapped by a damn Titan is painful. I'm bleeding all over the place, and I think I've lost some skin. My time is at an end, it seems. DAMN IT!" There's a NHP before the Skaarj ship. Now climb it and save the game. There's a Skaarj Gunner with Eightball working on a computer panel. Charging six bombs at him seems to be the best way, although you have to start the charge from a position which will make you invisible, otherwise you're owned. Another strategy would be alerting him and make him chase you in a safe area. Get his dropped Eightball. On the ship there's a SuperHealth, but save it for the end. After passing some Explosive Barrels, you'll find a Rifle Ammo and a message (on the panel): "Location Z-14 supplies have been refreshed. Our orders are to remain here until the next transport arrives to retrieve a shipment of crates from Location Z-14. | Most of the ruins from around the teleporter have been cleared away. One of the cargo haulers dropped in and loaded them up before leaving again. A Behemoth was left behind to assist with moving crates." Now exit from the ship and save the game. Don't enter the next area, just stay on the electric staircase of the ship and equip Rifle. Boss Fight: Ice Skaarj Leader This is an easy fight for the ones who don't mind having a good score. Start to shoot four Rifle round on all Skaarj. Now they start to chase you, so retreat in the previous valley (the Stone Titan one). The ISL will probably start to get angry at his soldiers, and he's faster than them. His first argue will be against the Skaarj Lord. For the two Skaarj Assassins, refill them with Flak Shells until they die (finish with DP if they escape). Now for the boss and his ex-soldier (if he's still living or not). Kill firstly the Skaarj Lord with other Shells than pass to the ISL. He isn't hard at all, just run backwards while throw Flak Shells at him until he dies. If he's near you, Flak Cannon's primary fire is a must. Dodge in order to avoid most of his attacks and to take more distance from him. Now save the game and advance in the last valley. Near the tree on the right, a Gasbag hides. Lure him to another position and kill him with Flak Shells (he not dodges these) or DP. Now save again the game and go toward, and check always the right side. On a mountain you should spot a ledge with two Skaarj Sniper. Easy to kill, just stay far away (big distance like you did for the previous Snipers) and shoot them with the Rifle. Everyone should be now dead. Check this last part for other two NHP and regain everything you left in the level, being ammo, the SuperHealth on the ship, the Amplifier and the super Kevlar Suit in the ruins. Go in the once-guarded teleport to finish this doomsday and enter the awesome.
