Walkthrough - "Déjà Vu - Gryphon Revisited v2.01"Shia'dorle RefugeMap Author: Dana "zynthetic" Nassick "An ancient Nali crossroads" The strew of easy maps ends with this cool one. It's finally a break from Skaarj enemies and their friends, replaced for now by critters enemies plus disco serpents :) Start the level and ascend the first staircase. On your right there are two Bandages, and some steps toward a Nali (he's not dead, he's just sleeping according to the sounds) with a message written in his diary... "Peace at last! It seems our holy refuge has been infested with carnivorous flies. There is no end to thier numbers or thier incessant clamoring. It has been a long journey for me but I cannot forgo my holy pilgrimage. I will rest here for a while below Shia'dorle Temple. I have heard stories of great peril that lies above. Hopefully I can enter another temple close by. I believe the path to Yntic Zhet Pass is still flooded in the burial chanbers. It hasn't been dry in my lifetime and I doubt with the constant rain it will ever change." Guess we now know who are our annoyance here... prepare your DP and secondary splash fire. Enter the next corridor labelled: "Crypts of Shia'dorle" Proceed to the first hub and turn to the left corridor. At the end of it, you'll spot a Fly. Kill it with the DP (three DP 2ndary fire shots are perfect for them). Now on the left, there's a closed door guarded by another Fly. The path leads to: "Pan'thali Haven" ^LOL :) "Shia'dorle Refuge East Wing" You can enter it, but a rock fall blocks the passage. There's a lot of stuff though here. There are two Flares, one Stinger Ammo and a ScubaGear on the left, while on the right a ShellBox and two Health Packs. In the middle of the room, near the stones you'll find a body with a Stinger and message: "Haywood: I can't recall how long it's been since I've left our camp. I've been drifting in and out of consciousness after making it this far. There's just too many overgrown flies here and we are seriously ill-prepared for any fight." Now return back and go for the road you haven't explored yet. Prepare your DP or Automag also. After passing the three holes on the ground, you'll be blocked by bars erupting from these. A trap. You're in this room fighting now twelve Flies, appearing always in groups of a max of 3. The fight is easy though. You can just fire Automag bullet or DP splash bolts to kill easily them, but they can be fast and surround you if you don't move. Try to always running into all the four nooks of the area, but never stops, as a Fly may coming just over you if you are in the nooks that they use to come out. You can stop in the path blocked by bars though, and try to do the most damage possible to them. After they are dead, the bars will open and you're free. But there are rewards for passing this trap: in the nook on the right you'll find a NHP, an Armor and two Clips; the left nook two messages. One on the door... "Temple of the Spirit" ...and the other one by the Nali Carcass: "Ealnur told me to spend more time memorizing my spells. Look at me now, I've forgotten how to disenchant a simple lock! How am I ever going to earn my priesthood if I fail in this journey? Maybe I should double back to the Palace of Chizra to study some more." The other nook contains nothing other than a pile of useless rocks. Return now to the hub found at the start of the level. Go to your left when you arrive there (in other words the way opposite at the entrance of this map). There's a long empty corridor guarded by a Fly. Turn right to go to another hub. Turn right again and WALK. Until a certain step, arrows start to appears from the wall, plus some Flies from the roof and the end of this corridor. Just stay where you are and kill them with the DP quickly (they'll get a while before chasing you). The Flies can also be killed by the arrows, and they count into your score. Watch out from the Flies that appear in the beyond the arrow area. There are 6 of them in total. You can't pass the arrow area, so return at the map's first hub and go for the way that you never explored (leading to the other side of the Arrows trap area). At the end, near the rocks, you'll find a Tentacle. On the left there's the arrow crap thing and on the right a closed door leading to a place you are already visited... "Temple of Somana" Now return back where you seen the arrow trap for the first time, ignore the corridor with the cut human body and head for the path with the lone door to enter a flooded and decayed area. You'll find a Fly in the left closed path here. Go for the right corridor now, and check for ledges on the left for a vase containing a Seed. Later from those same ledges you'll find another Flies. Some other steps and you're finally outside this decayed and dark area. Toward you two Flies will begin their useless assault. Counterattack them before they can attack you (don't worry. They don't speak so they don't call you an "unfair" guy). Another hub. On the left there's a broken door which lead to the cut human body area mentioned above. Time to bypass the trap: shoot the door multiple times to create an hole on it and get the second DPPUp (DP is now level three). Watch the bars erupting from below and the trap also. It activates only one time, so don't worry about it anymore. There are also two Stinger Ammo in that part. Return back and on your left there's another corridor closed by an indestructible door piece and nothing more. The last corridor leads to a Nali showing you the next path, inside a wall. The closed door is labelled (actually there's something behind it, just an empty decayed area. Zyn maybe left that unfinished I think): "Temple of Novana" Go now for the way the Nali shown you to enter another corridor (found behind the indestructible rock piece). As you exit, equip Stinger and head for the left side for another hub. Left and right nook have Sliths (two of them). What you have to do is trying to being spot by only one of them, kill this one and destroy the second. To kill them easily, start fire Stinger normal fire on them until you see they are actually chasing you. Now Stinger Spread fire them one time and retreat for the secret entrance of this corridor. Wait a while and restart your assault. It can be hard so watch out. "Patterson: Haywood and Jones left only a few hours ago and helped setup a baracade behind them to stave off the insects. There _must_ be a way back through this tomb. We have lost almost all of our equipment, ammo and three squad members to a massive giant past the next settlement. Haywood and Jones took whatever they could carry in hopes of finding another exit." The stuff here cannot be broken. Head now to the last door remaining to enter the last room of this section. "Yntic Zhet Pass" ^Anagrams. Author's name :) "What perilous times these are. I have resided among this holy crossroads and it's several connected temples for nearly a century and have never seen such a threat to our race. I normally "save" children who should have abra'd when they cadabra'd trying to open doors or levitate items. This new danger is too much for me and I do believe it is time to pass my role on to one of the younger ones." ^LOL again XD. "The burial chambers below are to remain locked at all times. The only exceptions must be from the highest of the Priesthood Order. "The Burial Chambers can only be opened per each adjacent room. Please ensure you have the proper authority before disengaging the two locking mechanisms." Use the lever to opens the two rooms at the sides. Start to go for the one with the Sliths in it. Destroy them with at least 6 rockets and an end with DP shots. Press the button here. The other room has easy two Tentacles, where one is hidden near the entrance. Press the button also here. On the ledges there are stuff like Shield Belt, Flak Shells and Clips. Check the EE page. Now that you pressed the buttons, return to the flooded catacombs for the next "boss" fight. Stupid Boss Fight: Giant Squid If you need a strategy for this guy... well he's not as easy as the previous lame thing fought in the previous map, but it's quite the same thing, as the boss will never manage to hit you. As soon as you see him, start DP green shots pummelling, forever. If he's near you, retreat to the room above and kill him from there (he cannot get you unless you press "forward" for error). He doesn't have tons of health so the fight will be also very short. Try to not joke with him though: he's tentacles can kill you in no time. After the Squid is defeated, go for his room and check the Automag on the lift. Break the chain of this latter found on its top to unlock the passage. Go on the surface and search for two chests containing an Health Pack and a Clip. Go for the last corridor and turn left to enter the next path and finishing this map. For all the secret stuff, look the EE section. It's quite recommended as it gives many benefits (maybe also bad, you'll see).
