Walkthrough - "Déjà Vu - Gryphon Revisited v2.01"

The Catacombs of Shia'dorle

Creatures: Tentacles, Skaarj Warriors, Krall, Krall Elites, Pupaes, Gasbags, Biterfishes.

"The storm has broken"

Another easy and short map with the lamest boss ever. Start by advancing in the first area and go for the left side ignoring the Tentacle on the roof, because you have to start pummelling a sleepy Skaarj Warrior with DP primary fire (don't care about the Tentacle's shots, they don't hurt a lot and they can miss you if you stay in movement). When he wakes up, try to retreat to the start and finish him with DP or Stinger normal fire. Now dispose of the Tentacle that annoyed you before and enjoy the cool rain effects :)
Go to the side where the Skaarj was to find a Flashlight, a Stinger and a Stinger Ammo. The body here has a message...

"Log: Guard J.N. Farsey. Last night I made a dash through the cemetary gates before the Krall had realized it but I'm sure the Skaarj across the valley spotted me. I'll wait here and ambush him. I pray that Jacky makes it through, she supposedly knows a bit about this planet."

On the right side of the area, you'll find another Tentacle and NHP beneath it. Time to proceed into the next catacomb area. At its entrance you'll find two Krall. Start to shoot them with the DP and retreat in the previous corridor if necessary and strafe to avoid their bolts. Access the second area, but there's no rain :(
Anyway on the left side you'll find a Stinger Ammo, a Rocket Can and a Seed. To the other part just a ShellBox and another Stinger Ammo. Run now in the corridor which lead to the staircase area. Once you're in, a Skaarj Warrior appears from above, trying to chase you. Run backwards and pummel him with Stinger normal fire. Trust me, he'll not dodge them, and he'll die even before exiting the long hallway. Now that you have your way free, proceed in his room. On your right, there's an ASMD Core, and on the sides of the staircase and Automag and an Health Pack.
Proceed to the last room of the catacomb and kill with the DP the Tentacle here. Use the lift now to ascend to the surface (you cannot return anymore back, remember this. So re-fill health and ammo if you left something). Be prepared when you arrive at destination, as a Tentacle is here waiting for you (you can use the save-load trick to see it's clear position). As you seen him, go far from it and start your assault until its death. Now for an hard part: behind the doors there are two Krall Elite. The don't follow you in the structure, but they shoot you from afar, trying also to attract the attention of some Gasbags. Just stay in the building and shoot carefully at them (Krall Elites dodge a lot) with the DP. It is kinda hard, but rewarding; just open the door for additional space, but DON'T EXIT UNTIL THEY ARE DEAD. Watch out also for a Tentacle in the cave entrance on the right. Shoot it always from your position.
Now exit and admire the rain (not as cool as before but whatever). Ignore what's in front of you and turn 180° to search for the Gasbags (if they haven't already seen you). Use the Automag to kill them, and try to not let them team up, just go around the building to fool and confuse them, although their belches aren't something hard to avoid (just don't get it as they deal tons of health). Now in this area you'll find a ShellBox and a Stinger Ammo behind the building from whence you came, plus a NHP near the pool and an ASMD found in this latter thing (if you have max ammo, don't pick it up). There's also a message on a tablet...

"Here lies the holy resting place of the builder of these catacombs. May his soul soar high with the eagles for bringing peace to the dead."

Go for the cavern now and equip DP. As you enter it, you'll be welcomed by another Tentacle. The next small area has a crate with a NHP and a body which holds a message:

"Log: Marine, Jenni Marie. God it's good to get out of the rain. Krall patrol the place constantly. One dislocated my shoulder but I managed to use some supplies and extra clothing to make a brace. I'll rest here until the storm has passed."

Proceed to the next area but don't enter it (just stay two steps from the entrance): four Pupaes are there, and they don't attack you if you are in an higher position. Kill them with the DP's secondary fire. Now in this area you'll find three boxes... DON'T DESTROY THEM, except for the one over that lone crate in the middle of the room. Try to push the bigger wooden box near the other crate with the small box over it, so you can create a staircase leading to an ASMD Core. If you don't need it, don't destroy the boxes (they're empty anyway). There's also a Stinger Ammo there. Proceed through the last tunnel in which you'll find the last Tentacle of the level. Now don't enter the next outside area, just get spotted by the two Krall Elites guarding the structure at the end. They'll slowly come outside the cave (they cannot enter it, cave is too small for them). Punish them with 10 normal shots of your ASMD, then finish the work with carefully DP shots. You'll probably attract the attention of two Gasbags coming from both sides of the area. Stay always in the cavern and kill them with the Stinger. Retreat if you see them shooting belches. After the work is done, re-pick up the ASMD Core and Stinger Ammos you left in the previous areas. Now explore the last outside part. There are two ASMD Cores behind the rock found at the right side, while in the pool there's a Rocket Can with friendly Biterfishes. There's also a NHP before the entrance to the last building. Now equip the ASMD, enter this place and aim for the door-like thing on the wall in front of you, near the roof...


Stupid Boss Fight: Giant Gasbag
Health: 1000
Difficulty:
Attacks: The same as a normal Giant Gasbag.
Description: A Giant Gasbag guarding the building. He's probably the one who created the four Gasbags encountered before.

The lamest fight ever created for a game. There's no need for a strategy there: as soon as you see his nose, shoot at him with the ASMD normal fire until he's dead. Just stay in your position and hold the primary fire button. All the ASMD stuff launched at him make him stop... ALWAYS. He never attacks in this way. 36 ASMD shots are needed for his defeat.


When the lameness is dead, the hole below you opens, and so the door to the previous area (you can also discover a passage made for Coop mode). Get all the ASMD ammo you left in the map and fall for the opened hole. Map finished.
